Scrapbooking

How long has it been.....

Started 1309225184.643 in Scrapbooking | Last reply 1317088927.053 by annabellethecat

since QVC had their last scrapbooking show? I really can't even remember. I miss them so much. HSN just doesn't have the quality of shows that QVC had. It's amazing how we all still come here to talk about what is on HSN for us to watch for scrapbooking. It's even more amazing to me that QVC doesn't realize what a category they let go....and BRING IT BACK!!!! {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Simply put . . . I agree. Would love to see the return of scrapbooking!

Miss you sweet Molly :'(

Since the main "stars", like Anna Griffin, Martha Stewart, etc., are now on HSN, I can't imagine who QVC could get who would draw people in. Maybe if they did a broader spectrum of crafts, other solely on paper crafting. But I doubt any crafts will be coming back to QVC. Wonder why they even keep that category in their merchandise offerings.

I think it's been at least 2 years, maybe three? The last one was in August, but I don't remember the year. Right before the recession hit big time. Many of the scrapbook supplies manufacturers have since consolidated or gone out of business. Digital scrapbooks have caught on, and that hurt the market, even before the recession. Also, the cost of the hobby has gone from pretty papers, ribbons, some embellishments and glue, to $300 machines. I don't think many people can afford that now, when tens of thousands of people will lose their homes this year. Sad.

My guess is probably 3 years since the Q had their last scrapbooking show. I think the writing was on the wall when Lisa Bearnson had her last show in the same year. My feeling is that they showed her the door instead of her "wanting to spend more time with my family". Personally, I wasn't sorry to see her go, since she showed the same supplies over and over again. Scrapbooking can be a very expensive hobby and it wouldn't take much to easily spend $5 or more per scrapbook page, with papers, embellishments, etc. I have found many good bargains on clearance at my local hobby and craft stores. I also buy most of my supplies on sale or with coupons. It also wouldn't hurt for QVC to have an occasional scrapbook/hobby/craft show, but it seems that they have gone in a different direction with their products. I don't anticipate ever seeing scrapbooking on the Q again.

I thought Lisa showed MORE different items that what HSN was offering, speakiing of showing the same things over and over again.

I loved all of Lisa's SAMPLES she made, she is/was so creative . . .

I don't watch HSN.....one shopping channel is enough for me.

I only watch HSN for scrapbooking. Although there are repeats, they provide us info on what's out there. There is not much scrapbooking on TV so can't be too choosy.

I can't wait when the MS scrapbooking or craft show starts as mentioned by Martha that "it's in the works."

Not a Martha fan, but some of her shows are worth watching. Would be interested in her scrapbooking/craft show, as she does have good ideas. Would that be seen on the Hallmark Channel?

I used to tape all the shows when they were on, I like to listen to them as "background" noise when I scrapbook. I found a tape yesterday from Fall 2009. I think that's the last one that aired. It was around that time when they had that "Online Scrapbooking Event" that ended up being a big flop because all it turned out to be was being able to order online like any other day - there were no specials or anything. I remember a lot of us were so annoyed by that.

BYU-TV has a few craft shows (scrapbooking, quilting, painting). For scrapbooking one is The Spotted Canary (they do other stuff too) and the other is, I think, Scrapbook Memories. They also have Fons and Porter for quilting. I get the channel on Dish Network in the 9000 range. If you get local digital PBS stations, check their .2 or .3 programming. The PBS station closest to us has many shows during the week on one of their .x channels while on their "standard" channel they mainly have children's shows. We do not get the .x channels because when we looked at getting an antenna to get the digital channels the contractor was honest and said we could pay a lot of money and still would have an iffy signal another case of the government forcing change on the American people without considering the consequences (IMO).

Also check to see if your cable/satellite TV provider has Create TV. I'd need a really huge DVR if we got that channel.

"Create" is my go to channel and I have learned a few techniques from the Spotted Canary to use on my cards. I paint with acrylics and watercolors so I enjoy those shows as well. Of course there are One Stroke reruns and they are all about the same.

I thought the Anna Griffin "quilt" was really neat but did not order.

By the way, I think HSN has some really good "craft and scrapbooking" shows. That Darlene Cahill has the best demos. I could watch her all day if I could.

I ordered something from HSN this past week and their info said that Brenda Pinnick is coming to HSN!! I saw her on QVC a few years ago and just loved her scrapbooking products. She is awesome. Everyone seems to be heading over to HSN so I guess it's QVC's loss.

I just Brenda Pinnick- I'll have to go see if they show anything yet! BJR.

And by the way Thanks!

I looked on HSN- Can you tell me what she will be selling or do you have a link? I can't wait!

You know I think QVC crafting suffered when Suzanne left. They tried to replace her with Lisa, but that didn't bring a lot of variety, since she had her own products to sell. I think it was the behind the scenes person that created the disruption. As much as we loved David, his forte is not crafts but food. So, if you can't do it well, you don't do it. I think HSN has come a long way over the last few years and they keep improving. You may see the same type of items featured on screen, but on line they have everything now. So if the q were to come back, they would have a hard time competing. I know i spend enough money on q for everything else, I am sure they don't miss the craft $. It seems they have hung their star on jewelry.

Hi BJR, there doesn't seem to be any info yet on-line on HSN regarding Brenda Pinnick yet. That was how it was when Anna Griffin came thou too. I would think in the next few weeks we would see her products underscrapbooking or something. I'll keep looking. I got quite a few of her products when she was on the Q. There were so gorgeous but yet really simple to work with I thot!! Yeah.

I still wish I could get the 2 packs of paper that was sold on QVC the Lavish and the Village I believe- I missed those. BJR.

Brenda Pinnick has a blog. She might announce it there. I think that is what Anna Griffin did only days before she appeared on HSN for the first time.

BJR - good luck finding the Lavish and Village papers. I believe you have the names correct. I was lucky enough to get both and they are lovely.

There are some Brenda Pinnick items on the Crafts > New Arrivals page over at HSN. Three clear stamp sets so far...
