When I make green bean casserole I use cream of celery soup all the time.Cream of mushroom soup does not got any flavor and I don't like mushrooms. A friend of mine gave this idea to me many years ago and have been doing this way ever since. It does really make a difference.

You can substitute it for any of the cream soups......chicken, mushroom.

Hi, elizabeth k: LilBitMissty posted one at the start of this year in our monthly game.

For a super quick and delicious New England clam chowder I combine a can of cream of celery, a can of cream of potato, a can of chicken stock and a can or two of chopped clams juice and all. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15-20 min till all ingredients well combined. Season to taste.

If you go to Campbells Soups website you can search for recipes by ingredients. You should be able to search cream of celery soup and I'm sure recipes using chicken also would come up in that search.

Go to the food network website and look up Paula Deen's chicken and rice casserole recipe. It uses chicken and cream of celery soup. I have made this several times and it is good. Sorry I don't have the recipe right now and can't quite remember it, but that is where I got it.

4 chicken breasts (boneless & skinless)

1 can Cream of Celery soup

1 can water (use soup can)

1 cup UNCOOKED rice (not Instant)

1 Tbsp. butter

Salt & pepper, to taste

Grease baking dish with butter or Pam. Place soup, water & rice in greased baking dish and stir. (Let sit a few minutes for rice to soften a bit.) Place chicken breasts on top of mixture and dot each piece with butter, salt and pepper. Cover and bake in preheated oven @350 degrees for about 40 minutes.

Here is a tuna casserole that uses cream of celery soup. You probably can substitute chicken for the tuna.

Tuna Noodle Casserole

An "old favorite"..updated.

  • 3 cups wide egg noodles
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
  • 1 (6 1/2 ounce) can solid white tuna, drained
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 cup shredded process American cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Cook noodles according to package directions; drain. In 2 quart microwavable casserole microwave (HIGH) margarine 25 seconds; stir in onion and green pepper. Microwave (HIGH), covered, 1 1/2 minutes. Gently stir in noodles, tuna, soup, peas, 1/2 cup cheese, milk and Worcestershire. Microwave (HIGH), covered, 5 minutes; stir. Recover; microwave (HIGH) until hot and bubbly (4-5 minutes). Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Let stand, covered, until cheese melts, (about 2 minutes).
Amount: 4 servings

Recipe tested in a 650-700 watt microwave oven.
