Q Did What?

Does anyone else find Meredith a bit unhappy or not really into it as of late? I don't know what happened but she seems down. I wonder if she is disappointed in not getting a regular hosting gig on the Q? I thought the Blue Jean Chef was great but I think they've cancelled that. I haven't seen it in awhile. Just wondering if others have noticed what I have.....

To be honest, I think she just is a bit more subdued than many of the QVC hosts, but I really like her. She really is knowledgeable about cooking and the products. I haven't noticed a real change in her, but I also didn't get the chance to watch her as much as I'd like.

I have noticed that, but I agree she has a lovely calm way about her and is very clear in her presentations. You are right though, they didn't follow through with her Blue Jean show with the consistency in programming that it needed, and doubt it was her fault though.

There is another chef, who's name totally escapes me, that the Q seems to have been pushing lately - a gentleman. Maybe Meredith is feeling a bit overlooked or upstaged at this point in her career at the Q? Whatever it is, something is not the same with her.

I like Meredith - I like her lay back personality and she does a great job selling, but actually combines it with teaching you tricks and giving you ideas. She is a really asset - I hope QVC reconsiders - she is a gem and they should be careful that she could end up at another network - she is a talented personable chef.

I love the Meredith is wearing her hair now. She just seems like a girl friend - would be neat to have a Saturday morning baking show with Merideth

I actually think she'd be great opposite Rachael Ray. The two of them seem so genuine! Both could present RR's products while sharing tips and techniques.

I think this is a great idea, too!

i feel she's wasted on the channel...she should have her own show again. she shouldn't play second banana.

I think Meredith should join Rachael's TV show. She would be great! She's very smart and know how to explain things well and can teach the audience some new dishes and tell them what to have on hand at home. She is subdued but I think that's because she's a professional and not someone trying to get her quota in for the week or month.

Rach, are you reading this!!!!!! I hope so.

She recently hosted that show from Colorado. She was on her own; no QVC host with her. I would like to see more Blue Jean Chef shows, but I guess with Carolyn Gracie's kitchen show that probably won't happen.

I like her too, however, she is better at presenting a product or cooking, than selling. I was bored to tears when I tried to watch her at the cooking show last weekend. Some people can talk the talk--she can't. Let her cook and demonstrate.

I loved the Blue Jean Chef show with Meredith. I'm sure Meredith was disappointed when David got the "In the Kitchen" spot. There seemed to be some tension between them last year but I think she got over her disappointment. She is a good instructor but not a salesman. Meredith appears stiff and uncomfortable whereas David is comfortable and goes with the flow. You can see the difference between David and Meredith with the KitchenAid lady, Laurie. Laurie takes over the demonstration and Meredith cannot get a word in. It was a little better this year at the Food&Wine Show in Aspen. With David, he lets Laurie know it is his show and she seems to tone it down.

Maybe Meredith feels left out since Joseph joined the Technique staff. I like Joseph because he seems knowledgeable and very comfortable doing the presentations. Working in front of a TV camera is very different from working in a classroom.

I always enjoy Meredith's demonstrations and shows and prefer her low keyed approach. Personally, I do not like the new addition to the Technique staff; he is almost swarmy and kind of gives me the creeps! I like all the other cooking guests they have, but this guy is another story.

Off topic a bit, I wish Technique would increase their open stock. I would really like to see some more sauce pans in various sizes (1-3 qt) rather than just saute or grill pans.

I really like Meredith and wish she had her own show. She is calm and says what she needs to say wihout acting like a teenaged girl on speed. I enjoy watching her and I can't say that for many of the hosts.

This morning's In The Kitchen is giving me a headache. They are filming outside and the grill is crackling. Both David and Meredith are shouting to be heard over the crackling grease in the pan and David keeps interjecting with "We've started with 4500...I now have....". Ok calm down crazies.

Personally, I like Meredith ...she is a great chef and is professional. I don't think they gave her show "The Bluejean Chef" enough time to work.

Instead they give Carolyn another show. She doesn't know a whole lot about cooking, but seems to be a professional eater. Her show just brings back the same products that are seen on all the other cooking shows.

Why does she keep getting her own shows ??? She most definately knows someone who has some pull at the Q. There are show hosts that have been at the Q for many more yrs. than Carolyn and still don't have their own shows. This is totally unfair.... what gives ???

I agree with you re: the new Technique rep. I think the CE line only needs Bob Warden and Meredith. If they present items when they cannot be on, the host should be able to do the presentation alone. re: Blue Jean Chef show--I think it was good, but maybe didn't make enough sales. I think it would be good with Meredith alone, but she doesn't do the hard sell and that is what Q is doing now.

I enjoy watching Meredith! Meredith is NOT a hardnose seller so that wasn't going to work. It's all about the money!!!

Chef Joe? You guys don't like Chef Joe? He has been on almost a year, mostly late nights (PST), so I catch him a lot. I like him. Since I am watching late I also get Jenny Repko for Cooks Essentials. I have to say that I have learned a lot from Chef Joe. I have a few Technique pieces, and other hard anodized pieces and can honestly say I've learned how to use them better because of Chef Joe. I like Meredith too, but don't see her as often as Chef Joe. Meredith did a good job w/the Kitchenaid show at the Food and Wine Festival in Aspen. What I take away from QVC kitchen shows are knowledge and the confidence I can do it. I am by no means a gourmet chef, but my skills have improved thanks to Meredith and Joe.

I think she would be great on a cooking channel. She should have her own cooking show, not on the Q.

I like Chef Joe too, but I also like Meredith. I think there is plenty of room for both of them. I would definitely watch a show with Meredith as a host...certainly MUCH better than having CG host cooking shows! I'm glad that one is on at 7am - a time when I'm still trying to sleep and not watching.

I think the unfortunate thing is that they have gotten a lot of people used to all the drama and histrionics that you see with a lot of the newer hosts ... so when they see somebody who is mature and calm, like Meredith, she is perceived as flat and boring. I'd take flat and boring over crazy and hyper any day. That (and the calls) is the primary reason I seldom watch QVC anymore.

She has always seemed subdued and a little remote to me. I don't think talking, being chipper and selling are her thing.
