What type of water do you use with your Keurig?

Started 1268406318.62 in Kitchen & Food Talk | Last reply 1268601655.207 by mima

I have been using regular tap water with my Keurig, and lately the coffee doesn't taste so good.

Last night I was at someones house and they used bottled water to put in the Keurig, and I have to say, it tasted much better.

What are your opinions?

My hubby and i have the keurig and this is what we do. We use our brita water pitcher. The coffee does taste good, but since i don't drink coffee my hubby does. I drink tea and the water makes it taste good.

Bottled water only since we have a water softner and the brewer could get a build up of scale. I just had a delicious cup of coffee, never drank so much coffee until we got these new brewers and the k-cups.

I have mineral laden hard well water so only use water that has been put through my  Pur filter pitcher.  If I didn't I'd probably have to descale at least once a week.

I use filtered water from my Brita.

Bottled water only.  But, I don't like tap water anyway, so I've never tried it to see if there's a difference.

I only use water which has been filtered through my Brita pitcher.....

I buy bottled water, too.....and like CasinoMom.....i have never drank as

much coffee as i have with my Kuerig....If i were you....i would descale

and start buying bottled water or a Brita....By the way....according to

the owners manuel...descaling is something that should be done with

or without using the bottled water....I just did mine the other day....

We only use the filtered water that is dispensed inside the refrigerator.

Filtered refrigerator water. Our tap water has enough chlorine in it to bleach our colored clothes into whites, which doesn't make for a good cup of coffee.

I am so enjoying my keurig. I don't think I have had one cup that I have not enjoyed.

Tap water is fine for mine but if I start noticing a difference in taste its time to descale. You might want to try that it makes a big difference.

We have reverse osmosis water system, I use that.  The Keurig from QVC comes with a water filter.  I use that too.  My coffee is soooo clear, the taste is wonderful.

Shoekitty,

We have Culligan's water system in our house.  I think it works on reverse osmosis

too like yours.   Coffee taste great.   Tap has way too much chlorine in ours.

I'm probably the only one who uses tap water because I happen to have really good tap water.  I had my mini Keurig for 3 yrs now and no problems or different taste yet. (oh no I hope I didn't jix myself).  Plus we go through 8-10 k cups a day.  If I do experience any changes with the unit or taste I will post it since it will be a lesson for me.  But if you were curious on if it would be bad I would suggest checking out your tap water by calling your water company.  We get a updated tested notice every year on the condition of the water.

I have the Keurig that was the TSV over a year ago, so it doesn't have the filter in it.  We use distilled water only, as even the bottled water from this region causes buildup and makes descaling necessary almost once a week.  Our tap water?  We have a whole house iron filter plus a softener and the water is still awful, so I wouldn't use that even in an emergency!

We have a reverse osmosis system, so I use that.  I don't use the filter that came with my coffeemaker since my water is already pure.
