Blue Jean Chef -- Pressure Cooker Cookbook

Started 1347654331.13 in Kitchen & Food Talk | Last reply 1347903030.33 by depglass

There is a new Technique Pressure Cooker TSV coming up soon. K37126 It is being paired w/a new Pressure Cooker Cookbook. I really like Meredith Laurence and Technique products. I am okay w/my pressure cooker but was excited about the new cookbook F09871. The book itself is ~$17 but the s/H is ~$7. That is ridiculous considering it is a paperback book -- but I preordered. I hope it's worth it.

Their shipping and handling on cookbooks is always a fortune! I usually check out Amazon for the book before purchasing it from the Q....thanks for the heads up about the book

LOL I checked and it isn't listed yet. I noticed that QVC books are usually not available directly and you have to buy from a vendor. Trust me when I say it has to be a book I really want to pay that kinda S/H. :)

If it is a real published cookbook, it will appear on Amazon etc. at a great price. QVC may hold it "exclusive" for a while -- but it will go into the mainstream.

Patience continues to be a virtue.

How do you know that is going to be a TSV? Did I miss it in the Insider? (just curious). I love, love, love my pressure cooker. Saves tons of time. But all we cook in it are plain chicken and turkey parts ... Boring but healthy and quick. I sure could use that cookbook.

The pressure cooker is the TSV and they have a new ELetter called Quizine. I got the ELetter and the TSV was available for pre-order and so was the cookbook.

Its funny, I make a lot of Beans, Soups and Stews in mine. I have a curry mix that make in mine that is really good. What kind of recipes do you like? I think my favorite is a really easy short rib recipe.

QVC15049 You are correct and I just ordered Great Food Fast for $12.49 from Amazon. LOL I guess I can wait, but I thought it would be good for the cooler weather.

Eletter? What? When, where & how?

Go to sign up for Email and then look for Quizine, check the box, and you're signed up!

The pressure cooker looks nice. 6.5 qt oval size in a lot of great colors. The insert matches the color of the unit. $108.32, $16.22 S&H. Again-made in China. I wonder about getting replacement gaskets. It does have low, med, and high settings and a 'voice command' feature. Should be interesting!

I am glad to see more oval shapes, but I really wish they would come back out with the 8 qt model, with the heavier hard anodized , removal inside..........I keep my fingers crossed every time I start up my 8 qt oval Cooks Essential that I have had many years , that it does not go out...{#emotions_dlg.crying} It is the perfect shape and size.....even for someone who lives alone.....Cool

Thanks lacey1 that's the same # I have. I don't think that's the tsv price. Guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow. I also like the oval shape.

It will be interesting to see the difference between Meredith's book and Bob Warden's book.

Am guessing that Meredith's book will have more interesting and creative recipes - she's a trained chef; Warden is not. Also I expect Meredith's recipes will be more "made from scratch," with less a jar of this or a can of that.

It's a 232 page book. Not an unreasonable price with shipping - or at least not an atypical price. Not many cookbooks one sees these days are any less expensive unless one buys them used. This book also has full color photos - which makes it more expensive than would be a book with no photos.

By the way, you can pre-order the book now at Barnes & Noble online but their price is considerably higher even with free shipping. Will it be less at Amazon eventually? Perhaps, but it's not listed there yet though Meredith's previous book is.

I got the Junior's Cheesecake cookbook considerably cheaper on Amazon when it first came out. I had it preordered here and then saw it on Amazon, so cancelled it on the Q. Great cheesecakes. Just like the ones you order but can be made at home. Delicious but time consuming...........

It looks like the advance orders to be shipped the week of Oct 15 has sold out and they're taking waitlist orders now. Can't wait to get my copy.

I'd buy it in a minute if the description didn't say PRINTED IN CHINA. Come on QVC, you can't even give printing business to a USA company!!! Shame on you.

Supposedly there's going to be an exclusive QVC portion in the one here that won't be anywhere else. Who knows. I preordered it. I have a couple pressure cooker cookbooks I like all the ideas that are in them. I didn't order David's book tho.

Cheese with that whine?

I tried ordering online, it kept switching quantity to 0 and wouldn't accept the order. So I called auto order 1-800-345-1212 option 5, in case someone is not familiar with the phone system. This is what I get for stalling, I never dreamed it would sell out, so I'm on waitlist.
