I was looking at some open stock Technique cookware pieces to add to the Technique hard anodized set and found several pieces, such as a 4 qt. saucepan, that are listed as being "anodized aluminum". The Technique sets are referred to as "hard anodized aluminum". Does anyone know if if there is indeed a difference between anodized and hard anodized or is just in the wording? I hesitate to order any of the open stock pieces since I am not sure if it is the same material or construction as the sets. Iif anyone has any knowledge or experience to pass on, I would appreciate it. Smile

There is a difference but for title/name length sake people usually just shorten it to "anodized aluminum". There should be no difference between the two.

It appears to be just like the sets, same glass lid, same handle. I have only one piece of the dishwasher safe hard anodized and it says "hard anodized nonstick" "made in Thailand" on the bottom. It has that same handle and I think its all the same hard anodized. It has held up well for 3 years in the dishwasher. I think you will be very happy with that pan. I mourn the loss of all the open stock pieces they used to offer in all their lines. I don't use those small saucepans in the sets even though I'm cooking for only one or two most of the time. Three quarts is my smallest.

Thank you both for your feedback. I really appreciate it. I think now I'm going to add these pieces to my set.

depglass, I really wish they would offer more open stock pieces in their cookware lines also. I remember when that was a big thing on the Q.
