Keurig Handle - Up or Down When Not in Use?

Started 1260245480 in Kitchen & Food Talk | Last reply 1260394444 by mibaker
Just received mine this afternoon. So far so good. Except the top is kind of hot (even when it hasn't been making a cup) and smells sort of like it's burning. That electrical kind of smell. So I am wondering, do I leave the top up (open to the k cup part) or closed, which looks better? Thanks so much. Couldn't find any info in the instructions about this at all.

Desi--once I remove the used K-cup, I leave the handle up. (Not wide open, just slightly open.) If the handle is put down, the "ready to brew" light starts blinking. I guess if you want to leave it closed you will need to leave a used k-cup inside.

I keep mine down...the brew lights do blink but it stops after a minute. I take the kcup out and wipe it the machine because sometimes coffee will splatter. When I want a cup of coffee later I just lift the lid and pop a kcup in and it is ready to brew. Received my new one yesterday in cinnamon and it is very nice plus love how quiet it is.

Thanks Sarah and mib., appreciate the answers. Guess I'll leave it partly open as well.

karin..yes there is hardly a noise! Very nice sleek looking machine. I love it but this isn't my first Keurig. My other one is noisy but you get use to it but this is super quiet. I think a good excuse for getting one!
