Do plug in bug killers work

Qvc use to sell a plug in gadget that kept bugs from the home.

Don't know if they still are sold.  Do they work?

I have that gadget and no it doesn't work.  I hate spiders and am terrified of them and I still have them in the house.

I just tried them because I've been having a problem with centipedes.  I've had them plugged in for three months with absolutely no impact on the number of centipedes.  The reviews seemed split on them so I was willing to give them a try, but they didn't work for me.

No, they don't work.  I had high hopes for them, but it was something that was too good to be true!

Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like the product doesn't work. I haven't seen it sold on QVC,perhaps they discontinued it.

No they don't work - supposed to keep out ants, spiders etc even rodents by emitting a high pitched sound ( they even give warnings if yo0 have pets like guinea pigs- you're not supposed to use them) but evidentally my bugs wear ear plugs so I stop them with Terro plant spikes all around the exterior of my house first sign of warmer weather.

It's weird how the reviews are so split.  A LOT of people really love them and probably almost as many say they are completely ineffective.  I still have 2 plugged in from back when QVC sold them.  I have a couple others in my house that I bought since then.  I don't have a bug problem (which is surprising since I have a bird!), except for the occasional spider or earwig.  Who knows if it would be worse w/o those plug ins, though.

A lot of people really swear by them...

No. I bought several of them, but they didn't seem to make any difference. (One time I saw a large spider crawling right on top of the gadget.)

It was called Riddex and I absolutely swore by mine!  I bought it back when it was sold on QVC.  I moved about nine months ago and accidently left it behind at the old house.  I recently picked up a new Riddex at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and have had it plugged in for about two weeks.  So far the spiders are still camping out in my basement.  I hope I see results soon.

My husband went on the internet and found one I have never heard of.  I had originally wanted the Riddex, but my husband told me they only worked for different bugs and did not include the ones I needed.  We live near a wooded area and bugs I have never seen before.   We started having alot of black ants and we have those centipedes too.   I hate those things.   The one my husband bought really works ladies.   Once in a while you will see one, but it has helped dramatically.  It affected our dog for awhile, but she got used to it.  It works by a shrill noise which we as humans do not hear.   We have several in our house and they really work.  I will try to get the name of it if anyone is interested.   You will see a huge difference.

I have one on each floor got mine at Home Depot, love them, they really do not work on insects, mostly rodents like mice, squirrels, etc. Have had mine plugged in for 10 years, and not seen a mouse since.

I like mine and I think that it does work well for spiders. I haven't seen one in my house since I started using it. You have to give it a week or so before you notice a difference.
