Luminara new Cinnamon and Apple Candle

Started 1348734535.223 in For the Home Talk | Last reply 1349044804.17 by AuntG

Hi...

I just purchased the New Luminara Cinnamon Sticks and Apples
(I think they are apples) 7 inch Candle for my Sister for Christmas.
Item Number H198365

I purposely came on-line at 3:00AM to see if this candle was in
QVC.com's system as I knew that I was not able to see it on-air
on Jill's 4:00PM Home show today.
AND.....
I was afraid it would sell out in that choice so I purchased it from the photo
and description.

I really like it as it has the Cinnamon Sticks and Apples embedded into the Wax.
I have a lot of this embedded type candles.....
Christmas Candles with Hollies and Red Berries but not Flame-less.

At first, I thought I would wait and see if Luminara came out with a
Christmas Type of Embedded Candle with Berries, etc.....
But after I thought about it, this candle can really be used year round in anyone's kitchen.

I though I would just "Jazz" it up with a Sage and Gold Christmas Bow before I wrap it.

My Sister and I still exchange Gifts......
(We both felt that It would not be Christmas without doing so)

Because of the cost and OUR AGE, My Sister and I agreed that for Christmas, we would ONLY send each other ONE Christmas Gift, that being a Christmas Decor Gift.
((I live in NJ and She lives in Florida))

In your opinion, do you think this Candle will be OK as a Christmas Gift ??
OR...
Do you think that this candle is too Autumn-like ??

Since we are only sending each other one gift, I really would like your opinion.

Thanks a Bunch !!!Kiss

Thanks for posting the number for the new candles. I think the cinnamon apple candle can be year round. I have a real candle that looks similar and does not scream autumn.

I like both of them, but they are pricey.

I completely missed their presentation, but would think the apple and cinnamon candle would look very nice and appropriate year-round in a kitchen.

I looked up these candles on the website becuase they sounded very interesting. I think that these candles are lovely and could be used all year. I have several Luminara candles and have given them as gifts. I love the way they look when they are on; the illumination is wonderful. I wondered - do these candles have a scent?? I was not able to see Jill's show. The only down side to Luminara candles is that they go thru batteries like crazy!

Hi...

I did see Jill's show...

I watched from 4M to 6PM.....

FINALLY at about 10 minutes to 6....
She presented them ...................

BUT........

She said that the Candles were REAL Leaves

AND
REAL Cinnamon Sticks and LEMONS !!!...LEMONS ?????{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

To me, when I looked at the picture online before I purchased the candle,
then again when I viewed the video, the fruit looked a red-ish brown,
like an apple slice.......

It was kind of hard to tell when the 2 candles were presented on-air as it was
such a short presentation and the Leaves choice was shown close-up and more
often than the Cinnamon Stick choice.

When I heard that the slices were Lemons, I called and changed my order
to the Leaves Choice.
I then thought about it over-night and before the order shipped, I changed my order AGAIN this morning......
Back to the Cinnamon Sticks and Apples or Lemons......

I guess I will find out when I get the Candle..............
I sure HOPE, the slices, whatever they are....
Don't look like ROTTON LEMONS !!

Anyone think they are Lemon Slices and Not Apple Slices ???Kiss

I missed the show, but watched the video and they look like dried apples to me, but Jill did state that they were oranges and lemons.

Kat, no matter what they are I think it will just look like dried fruit and not look like anything is "rotten". Hope you enjoy the candle!

I almost ordered the leaves, but since they are so expensive I decided to wait and see what other designs they come up with.

I heard that too and I was like ???????? LEMONS?? They are definately cinnamon sticks and apple slices. Although Jill claims she "prepares the set", I think she just walked out there and winged it. I find it very difficult to believe that they would put lemons with cinnamon sticks.

I even "yelled" at the TV when she said that! I am sure that the APPLE and cinnamon candle will be beautiful!

Hi...

You have to be very careful when purchasing Luminara Candles....

The NEWER candles have 500 hours of glow time.
THESE particular candles are the NEWER type.

The OLDER candles have a lesser glow time of only 250 or 300 hours.
Some of those are on Clearance now.....

SO..............

Before you buy, check the description....
Under each item, in the description, there is a GLOW TIME noted.

This happened with Candle Impression's Candles when they first came out.
They kept upping the Glow-Time............
I think some of CI's candles are now up to 2000 hours of Glow-Time.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

But....

I think that it takes, uses less of the Battery Life, to run Candle Impressions as
they DON'T have that "Thingy" inside to move the Wick.

Personally, I like the Candle Impressions during the day when they are NOT lit as they
DEFINATELY look MORE REALISTIC than the Luminara Candles.

At Night, when The Luminara is lit, THEY look more realistic
BUT...Only if you stand back and look at it...

Up-close, you can see the Plastic Ring that moves the Plastic Wick.

I am still deciding which I prefer....

This purchase was my 1st Luminara.

This Cinnamon Stick Candle is a Christmas Gift for my Sister.
I have already given her some of Candle Impression's Candles in previous years......
So I thought I would give her something different this year.

I also bought the Snow-Flake 9 inch candle for my Best Friend.
I have also given her some Candle Impressions Candles in previous years.

I just received that one, therefore I CAN comment and give my opinion on the
differences between Candle Impressions and Luminara.

The Jury is STILL OUT on the Snow-Flake Candle.............
I bought the WHITE choice which has Gold Snow-Flakes.
Number One, The Candle IS NOT WHITE....It is Ivory......
Number Two, It kind of LOOKS CHEAP.......The Painted Snow-Flakes

ALSO...I DO NOT LIKE the way the Luminara Candles are packaged....
In that Plastic tube with ZERO Protection !!!.......
QVC SLAPPED-ON the shipping label and sent the candle in it's original box.....
I am very surprised it made it here in one-piece....

Candle Impressions packages their Candles in the Styrofoam carton and then even
if QVC just SLAPS on the shipping Label, THOSE candles have a better shot of
not arriving damaged.....
BUT..............
That is another STORY...
QVC not re-boxing the items and just slapping on labels on the original boxes...
QVC UDSED to take the item in its original box and place it in a QVC box...
QVC DOES NOT do that anymore.....{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}
THEY SHOULD....We Pay Enough for shipping !!!
Sometimes, If I am even THINKING about getting TWO of any one item,
I get TWO as THEN they take the TWO items and place them in a QVC box to ship them.

I already called QVC Customer Service to report that the Snow-Flake Candle
IS NOT WHITE.........
I have until the end of January to return it at no cost to me.
I got a very good price on it as it was a featured price of $7.00 less than
the regular price...
This is why I am still deciding......
((I will probably look for a Luminara that has a color to it other than WHITE for
my Friend.......
I did see that there is a Metallic one in the Icy-Blue that has a 500 hour Glow Time
But that particular Luminara got some bad reviews as the Metalic SHEDS.))

This is WHY I decided to try the REAL Cinnamon Sticks and Apples.....
The Real Cinnamon Sticks and Apples may make the candle look more realistic
during the day.
I know that the wax is an OFF-WHITE on this Candle but that will not matter
as again, it is for my Sister and that is what she prefers.

I am hoping that Luminara will come out with more of the Type like these
with REAL Berries and Holly or something like that for Christmas !!!

I'm waiting......Kiss

Hi...

I did not hear Oranges, only Lemons....

I am VERY Picky when choosing GIFTS.

After looking a million times at the two choices and changing
my order from Cinnamon Sticks to Leaves then back to Cinnamon Sticks....

It appeared to me that the Leaves Choice looked a Little FAKE
as the leaves are a Bright Orangey-Red and Bright Yellow.....

I will let you know when I get the Candle.......
As to what the HECK is inside !!!
AND...If the INSIDE looks REAL !!!Kiss

hello all,

I like the look of Luminara when lit. I know batteries are expensive but I'll put up with it because these candles are so unique. BUT as someone mentioned the packaging does not protect the candle and one I recently ordered arrived broken.....{#emotions_dlg.angry} And another one, the candle would work for 5 minutes and go out....I tried several different NEW batteries same thing......even tried manual off/on, timer etc. something is broken with the mechanism and of course beyond 30 day return time.....{#emotions_dlg.angry} As much as I like the look I'm waiting for reviews before I order more....just like other things with QVC and retail in general now a days....quality is lacking!

I think they were leaves.

i got 3 pinecone flameless candles with shipping from hsn for $20.20. Yeah! Patience is rewarded. I love all the Q products but getting too pricey for me by the time s/h and tax are added.

Hi...

I would call QVC Customer Service....
If you have a problem and it is over the 30 days,
in some instances, they WILL allow the return.
And....Because the return would be due to damage, they will
not charge you the return fee.....
Just make sure that QVC notes the reason for the return on your order
and that a full refund is due.
If QVC does take out the return fee from your refund,
call QVC Customer Service and they will separately refund the return fee. Kiss

My impression of it was that while it has an autumn feel, it could be used year round in a kitchen. Hope sis likes it.
