Luminara Lantern...

Started 1348504508.643 in For the Home Talk | Last reply 1348669575.493 by Kat 13

Hi...

I have TONS of Candle Impressions Candles and
have given lots as gifts.

I wanted to give something different this year
so I decided to try Luminara........

I just purchased Two White Luminara/Bethlehem Lights
Indoor/Outdoor Lanterns.

ITEM number H197746.......New Yesterday

I plan on giving them as Christmas Gifts for My Sister
and Best Friend after decorating the inside.

I chose the White choice as they both live in Florida.

At the same time, I purchased Two in the Bronze, which looks Black,
for myself as I live in Northern NJ.
I PLANNED on using mine on my Mantle.

After I placed my order, I remembered that BL, Home Reflections and
Candle Impressions also offer Indoor/Outdoor Flameless Candle Lanterns
and those have only been offered where the Candles were RESIN and NOT real WAX.
If you look at those, It does say RESIN in the descriptions.

Since you cannot really tell from the Video, I called QVC Customer Service to ask
about the Resin or Wax.
They did not have that info and had to send an E-Mail to find out.

At the same time, I asked about the dimensions as 14" High was all they had..
No Dept or Width.....BUT....I needed to know if the Two Bronze Lanterns
I just bought for myself would fit on my Mantle.

QVC gave me Luminara's and BL's phone number.
Luminara had a recording on that said:
This is Luminara................BEEP.....
That was it.....No leave a message or anything....!!!!!
I did leave a message for them to call me but I am not sure they will even get that.

Then I called BL and when I asked them ...Resin or Wax ???
She first said I don't know, then put me on Hold, came back and said RESIN.
BUT...She did not even ask me for QVC's Item number and only said that if
they are Indoor/Outdoor they are Resin.

I am STILL questioning if that answer was correct as I have called BL before on
other items.
About TWO years ago, when they first came out and no photo was available on QVC.com., I called BL to ask the color of the lights on their Harvest lights.
I was told ONE THING but when I received the Lights, the colors were NOT what
I was told.

The reason I think that the Candle portion of this Lantern may be WAX is because Luminara is Kind Of New and I didn't think they even had Resin yet.

Because I have ZERO info on these Lanterns and since I DO NOT want Resin for myself
as I will never put these outside, I cancelled the TWO Bronze Lanterns.

I really do not think that the White Lanterns that I bought for the Florida Gifts
will matter if the candle is Resin as it IS Florida and they may want to use the
lanterns outside anyway.
SO......I kept those on my order for fear that the White choice would sell out
before QVC got back to me with the RESIN info as they told me it would
take about 7 days to get that.

Does anyone know if the LUMINERA Candle Lanterns are Resin or Wax ???

I have been online and on the phone for TWO hours trying to get SOME information.
Sorry this is so long.....

Thanks A Bunch !!!!!Kiss

Hi kat,

I listened to part of the presentation on the video and the rep. said it was made from a composite material and it wouldn't melt so I am assuming it is resin. I know in others they say they are not wax as wax will melt in the sun. That is why BL made their window luminara candles out of resin cause theywould melt in the window with the sun beating on them if they were wax.

Hope this helps.

Can't answer your question. But once I purchased Luminara I can't go back to just

plain ole' battery operated. The Luminara is by far the best ever !!

Great Idea for Christmas presents I was thinking the same thing when I ordered and I loved that you can change the inside to match the seasons.

Regardless resin or wax you'll love them !

PS.... I have a Lantern I bought during the summer for indoor/outdoor use in

white and made of wood. The candle inside happens to be WAX.

It is so frustrating when you cannot get a simple answer related to an item. If it helps at all, the BL/Luminara lantern from last year included a resin candle. I thought I wouldn't like that, but it doesn't bother me at all especially when you add things to the inside and outside of the lantern.

Hi...

I listened to the Video TWICE and did not hear that.....

I HOPE that it AT LEAST looks like real wax.....

Anyone else have a BL Luminara Lantern made of the composite ???

Does it look real ?????
Are They UGLY ???

I guess I could wait for the White ones that I ordered to arrive but
I am ANXIOUS as I want to get to Michaels's to get some stuff to
decorate them......

I was also planning on getting some BL lights...
The ones on the skinny metallic wires that run on Three C Batts......
I wanted to get those right away also before they get sold out (BL on-air on 9/25)
as there are only a couple of choices in the C Batts.
The other choices, a lot...run on those HORRIBLE SIX AA's..................
Although I know that the Florida Girls would probably want to sometimes use these outside.....
If I knew in advance that the Resin, Composite Candle was REALLY UGLY, I
probably would cancell those as I did the Bronze Lanterns and look for some
regular Wax Luminara Candles instead.

Well, I guess I may have to wait to get them to find out.
But......I hate sending things back.......
Thanks !!!

Hi Kat,

Michelle, the rep, said that about it being composite material and not melting right after they showed how she decorated the inside of the black one. She walked back over to the plain ones and said they were indoor/outdoor then said they were the composite material. I listened again just to make sure I didn't hear something that wasn't there.

Hi...

I just went back to the video and only NOW did I hear that the
candle is composite....
I swear, I listened TWICE before I heard that the 3rd time.
I guess I did not hear that because it was told SO FAST !!

I decided to cancel the entire order before it shipped for fear that the
entire Lantern may look cheap due to the candle not being wax..

I will wait for a NEW 9 inch REAL WAX Lumimnara, a Plain one.
I do want to gift the New type as the Glow-Time on the new candles
are 500 hours and not 250 or 300.
The Luminara Candles that have a lesser glow-time are beginning to go on clearance.

I did see a new Luminara 9 inch but it has Snow-Flakes on it....
I really would like a PLAIN candle as then it can be used year long.Kiss

Can't answer your question, but I've purchased lovely CI lanterns - my #1 gripe is that the flameless candles are permanently mounted inside. What?? Even the doors open! The candles - even with fresh batteries - only last one season/year! Then - pfft! No more light. Oh, I still use the lanterns outside as decor, but frustrating that I can't have new candles inside to light them up.

GRR. Every single time a flameless lantern is on QVC, I phone in and ask if they're removeable (NO). And I explain why I ask and ask CS to to pass along that request.

Hi...

I kind of remember seeing an Outdoor Flameless Candle Lantern that you could
remove the Candle, but I can't remember when and which one.
I do remember the Vendor showing and saying that the candle could be
removed and used elsewhere.
I could also be wrong too.........and the removable candles were in an INDOOR type
of lantern or glass Hurricane.

I am guessing that most of them are made that way is so the candle
does not move inside ....LIKE.....If you have it on a Shepard's Hook and
a gust of wind moves the lantern.....

OR.....It costs LESS to produce them that way...
outdoor flameless lanterns.....

But I do agree with you......
There should be a way to take the candle out if the candle breaks.
Maybe there is a way ??????
Are the candles screwed to the bottom ????
Are they soldered on ??

Thanks for the info....Kiss

Hi...

I decided to get the Luminara Real Wax 9 inch
Snowflake Candle in the White. which looks Ivory, with the Gold Flakes....
Item number H196474

Since this will be my 1st buy and gift of a Luminara,
I really wanted to gift a plain one as those can be used year long.
BUT.....
I kept looking at this one, really liking it{#emotions_dlg.tt1}
I figured that I better get this one BEFORE it sells out in the White as this
is the newer version with 500 hours of Glow-Time.

If and WHEN Luminara comes out with a 9 inch Plain White/Ivory version
with at least a 500 hour Glow-Time, I will save this one for next year and
get the Plain Candle and decorate it to give this year.

I know a lot of them are fixed but I think they have screws so that you could remove them if needed. I might be wrong though. Maybe someone with a CI lantern can answer as I don't have one.

I lovr candle impressions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have given many as gifts! I have bought some of the luminara when they came out last year, but the batteries don't last as long. I think on the new ones coming out the have changed the battery life. I still love candle impressions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
