New CI Peppermint Candy and Ribbon Candy candle

Started 1311436680.083 in For the Home Talk | Last reply 1312135260.987 by summerblue

I was looking at the lit photo of the peppermint candle. Does anyone think that it looks odd with only the top 3 sections lit and the bottom two not? Also, the ribbon candle looks a little washed out in color to me but maybe it will not look that way in person?

I ordered the ribbon candles but can always change my mind. They remind them of their Nana who always had that candy out at Christmas.

I prefer CI candles

I ordered the peppermint one but as far as I know it was not aired yet. I agree....reminds me of my grandma!

I saw those too but haven't ordered anything thus far. I am sitting on my hands. I really do have "enough" decorations to last a lifetime and candles. I am getting tired of buying batteries though. I think I like the BL plug is branches best of all.

I thought the same about these candles but did go ahead and order the ribbon candy one. I'm sure they probably sell out in a hurry. I can always cancel but that candle is just so different which is pretty much how I decide on what to purchase now that I have so many of the pillars.

I think these are so cute. I love the candles that are figural. Unfortunately, I can't figure out where I would use these so I have to pass.

I like the intricacy of the ribbon candle design, however, I would like to have seen it a full 6" high & a full 3" wide. I'm not a green a person, and, I agree with mallemo that the green does look a little washed out. I really need to see this presented, however, I'm in the same position as bopper -- have so many candles that I really have to be selective. And, Marsha, I can guarantee you that if I loved it, I'd be able to find a place for it. Smile

BTW, what happened to our sticking out the tongue, smiley. I really miss it.

I ordered both of them before they aired. They most likely will sell out. I don't have any Christmas candles and I didn't really care for the snowflake ones that are new.

Hey summerblue! Did you look at the lit photo of the peppermint candy candle? Does it look odd to you to have the top 3 sections lit and the bottom two not? Need a second opinion and I know you are a flameless expert!!!

mal, I think it would look better if they had this design lit throughout. If you have doubts, wait till the presentation. If it sells out you can always waitlist. And, yes, the ribbon candle does look completely washed out of color when lit. I'm gonna wait for the presentation. I'm on w/l for the Lotus, Hummingbird (sure hope the painting on this isn't sloppy or back it goes) & gonna get either the white or cream s/5 slims so it's not like I don't have anything to look forward to. Waiting on a great apricot candle(s) to be offered. Smile

bopper, you really have to start investing in rechargeable batteries. Smile

I really like the apricot color as well so hopefully that will be sooner than later.

Is it ok to use rechargeable batteries in CI candles? I've never used the rechargeable in any of my battery operated "stuff". Right now I am out of C and almost out of AA. TIA

Okay, thanks to ChristmasNut's display suggestion of adding these in with the Slatkin luminary houses on another thread, I ordered one of each of these designs. I have such fleeting will power. {#emotions_dlg.blushing}

I do, but the glow time isn't as long with rechargeables.

Actually, I think it would look wierd if the whole thing were lit. In a real candle with a design, the entire candle is not lit. So the way this one is done actually makes it look more real.

To me, the ones that are lit throughout are the ones that look strange - and really fake.

Marsha, I get the same length of satisfactory glow as I do with reg. batteries. I was inserting new reg. batteries every month when they start to lose their vividness. By week 6 with reg. batteries they look positively anemic. So, now, I just recharge the rechargeables monthly. Get the best life out of the PowerEx's Imedion batteries. Accupower & Sharp's are great, too. Only prob. w/ Accupower's is that their AAs are longer in length so I wouldn't recommend them since it's a real pain to insert & remove.

*Edited to say, most of my candles are 500-hour ones, so this is the best battery life I get from these. Naturally, they last longer longer w/ the 1000 & 2000-hour candles.

Thanks for the brand recommendations for good rechargeables, Summerblue! I'll take a look at those.

I picked up the ribbon choice. I bet these will fly when presented I figure I can always cancel if I don't end up liking them or return them too but would rather not going on waitlist as we all know CI candles tend to take forever to come back in stock.

Thanks for all that info. Where is the best place to buy them? Also, what recharger do you use?

summerblue1311452831.1272301 PostsRegistered 12/26/2007Long Island, NY

uffdaBe07, I bought the PowerEx Maha MC-H808M battery charger & have, to-date, only experimented w/ the Imedion, Accupower & Sharp AA's. I get the most longevity out of the Imedion. A slight bit tight on insertion. Sharp's are easily inserted & Accupower, as I said, too tight. I haven't done C's yet & have only tried the Imedion D's. I will try both the Imedion & Accupower in C & D's for comparison, but probably will stick w/ Imedion & do all my purchasing through thomasdistributing.com where you have to order $75 for free ship, which is super easy to do w/ rechargeables. However, I have ordered a couple from Amazon.com & newegg.com in smaller quantities to check out how well the batteries performed when they had sale prices & free ship. The batteries are pretty much all in the same ball park price anywhere you buy, but you may save a couple $ on the C's & D's if you buy through Amazon or newegg.

Here's a link to a write-up I did: *Be sure to read all my posts in this thread to get the complete info.

Summerblue - I will need to spend some time reading your link. My head is spinning right now. You really did a lot of research on this. Thanks so much!!!

mallemo - I think the glow on the peppermint candle would be just fine. As one of the poster's said, a real candle doesn't glow top to bottom. We are never home for Christmas so I don't decorate for that holiday but I don't think I'm going to be able to resist that ribbon candle. It's so different. Now I just wish CI would come out with a pumpkin shaped candle just like these this year! Let us know if you get the peppermint. I agree that these are going to fly out the door.

I also use rechargeables in my CI flameless candles. I have only used the AA size though and they work just fine. The main problem I find with the rechargeables is that they are just a bit too long and a very tight fit.

I might cave and get them itsmetoo. I think they are very different, and you are right, they will fly. Pumpkins would be awesome. I always hope for really nice Fall decor but we don't always see it.

I caved in and ordered two of the Luminara candles @!#%**?!!@* The price is certainly better than previously offered. They are supposed to be "improved"; claims 50 days of battery life. Bottom line, if they don't and the rechargeable battery doesn't support the candles, back they go. I have until 1/31/12 to return them which is a good thing!

mallemo - I decorate much more for fall since we are home then. I hope they have some good fall shows too. But these ribbon candles are calling my name. Both designs are great and so different. Not something you will find out in the stores. I think we should both cave!
