White Handbag - when do you put it away?

I know it is now acceptable to wear white after Labor Day. Does that apply to handbags? If yes, when do you put it away for the season? I will wear white till the end of September.

I think anything goes these days, but I always used to put my white/white bag away in late Aug. Now an off/white/winter/white bag can be carried practically year 'round. JMO

The older I get the less I worry about what is "acceptable" (I'm 46.) If I loved it I would carry it all winter if I wanted to. That being said, I have heard that any color leather is acceptable year around. I think it is a matter of personal taste. Carry it an enjoy it!{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I am old fashioned. I start wearing white at Easter and put that color away the day after Labor day. White needs a bright sunshiney light to look it's very best, I believe. I do bring out my creamy ivory bags after Labor day. And if they are trimmed in tan even better. That combo is my favorite until the weather gets cooler.

I bought this beautiful Cole Haan leather hobo and of course it was on sale which means I haven't got it out of my system (didn't get a chance to use it a lot). Thanks for the feedback.

Depends where you live. When I lived in New York, I wouldn't use my white purse afer Sept. Now I'm in California & can use any color all year round.

I play by my own rules. I wear white whenever I feel like it.

I put white handbags, shoes, and pants away after Labor Day. I know I am old-fashioned about it, but I have plenty of other colors I can wear instead. White just screams summer to me unless you are in a resort area or a part of the country where it is warm all year.

I have plenty of clothes, shoes and bags--enough that I can stay fashion and season forward as I prefer and put any white shoes and bags away right after Labor Day. Here in KC it can be quite warm in Sept. BUT I have lots of lightweight, yet more transitional, clothes and accessories to wear then. Stylists say to be slightly ahead of the seasons (but not be crazy about it) and that is how I prefer to dress. That way, I always feel current and appropriate.

I don't buy white handbags. Don't want to have to try keeping it clean. Yes, I know...lazy!

I have an almond colored Coach bag and a whitish/gray Brahmin bag and I've already put them in their dust covers and stored them away for the season.

Usually when the weather turns cool, so I guess it depends on where in the country you live. I think a bright white bag looks odd with tweeds, turtleneck sweaters and autumn colors and heavier fabrics.

I live in Florida, and as we have had over 80 days with the temp over 90 degrees, and no end in sight, I will carry my white as long as I care to. I dislike dark purses with airy, floral clothing.

When it gets cold and you start to wear fall and winter clothes.

I live in MI and would look like a fool if I carried my white handbag after Labor Day. I pulled out my white bag just yesterday to get my last few weeks of using it! BTW Winter white is NOT a true white white, its a light beige color. I wear beige year round.

Re white handbag-Don't have one.The "rules" don't apply to me at all.I wear what I want when I want. Who came up with the white "rule" anyway?? And who said boots are to be worn only in the winter?? Or that you need to wear a hat to church?? Or that your shoes and handbag had to match?? Come on ladies this is 2010 , not 1950!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would you put a white bag away? That whole no white after Labor Day and no white in winter has been gone for years. Those old fashioned rules have been long gone.

I live in New York and would do it a week or two after labor Day ... mostly because the type of clothes I wear wouldn't go with a summer white bag, not because of any particular fashion dictates.

I seldom use a white handbag, but unless I'm in a resort area, never after Labor Day. (I'm old school)

I just bought one now that they are on sale! I am still skittish about white, having gone to Catholic school. Now I spray water and stain repellent on everything (fabric) white I buy, like shoes and purses.

Totally agree with lulu2. Never really use white, but I put away summer clothes Labor Day weekend, this includes shoes, bags, clothes. By summer, I mean white or anything nautical etc, not just because they are short sleeved or shorts. I will continue to do so until the day I die, I am the epitome of old school
