Do you think it is ok to carry a black handbag in the summer?

I bought a black bag on sale recently and would like to carry it, but I don't wear a lot of black clothing in the summer. Is it ok to carry it now, or should I wait until fall?

I would wait until the fall if it were me. On the other hand, since you just got it you're probably anxious to use it. Maybe you could try it out for a week or so and see how you feel. I'm not sure there are any real "rules" anymore.

Enjoy your new bag!! Smile

I carry a black canvas one. Black is kind of 365 day a year color IMO.

Of course it's fine to carry a black bag during the summer, especially if it doesn't look "wintery". Many do not.

I currently am carrying a black bag and keep thinking I should change it out. It is not as if I lack other purses. However, this bag is perfect for me. You may have given me the impetus to pick out another bag as the official beginning of summer is upon us.

Thanks to all. Of course you are right. I should wait 'till fall to carry my black bag. I'm just already tired of carrying my spring bag. Maybe I need to shop for a NEW summer bag! Yeah... that's it.... I need to get another new bag! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Black is year around if you ask me. I wear black tops all the time in the summer.

What's the material? I just bought a black straw bag for summer

Is it fabric, canvas, or straw, etc.? I would not carry a black leather purse that was unrelieved by any color in the summer. It just looks heavy, in my opinion.

black is always in style. As long as it does not look "fall/wintery"...

I think it's okay year round. In fact, I just got a new KVZ one that I love so much, I may keep carrying it for a while. A lot of my warm weather clothes have black in them, so at least it matches most everything.

I've thought about not wearing a ton of black during the summer (not judging anyone if they do, just thinking about my wardrobe) and it's never once crossed my mind not to wear my black bag.

I say wear what you want! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Oh shoot, I never have followed silly, outdated fashion "rules"!!! Take whatever purse anytime YOU like and enjoy!

I wear black and white dresses in Summer, and I don't always like to carry a white purse. As hot as it is in Florida, I still carry a black purse sometimes, especially a fabric, straw, type.

Wear or carry whatever you want to.

Suit yourself.

Really. Whatever color of purse you want to wear on any given day ... it's up to you. Nobody else's business.

Me? I just got this one a couple of months ago -- in black. I FINALLY found a bag that has all the features I require.. and none that I don't. And hangs at exactly the spot I like whether I wear it over my shoulder.. or if I expand the handle and wear it as a cross-body bag. It's my HG bag.

Since it's still raining up here... I'll be using it until it's not going to be raining again (which is the 4th of July, a day it's pretty much guaranteed to rain -- it ALWAYS does up here on the 4th). Then I'll put it away to save it up for when it starts raining again -- as my 'GOOD' bag.

I had bought and returned that same bag in the red, the yellow, and the teal. But none of them looked "quite right." I finally figured it out -- it's because there's no animals who have skin in those colors. I don't care for that light brown color, so I'm going to wait until they make and sell this exact same bag in dark chocolate.

I do, however, wish that the "red" for that A95185 wasn't so .. well.. a bit weird. Not a true red. It's some other "animal," but red, it's not.

If it's a hot, sweaty day.. I switch out to a large cloth hobo.

But that's not because the cloth hobo is NOT black. It's because I need a lighter-weight bag .. one that is NOT leather .. in hot weather.

Black leather or "plether" should wait until fall. Black fabric or straw styles can go for spring & summer.

Maybe it's my age - 65 - but I don't give a rip what anyone thinks of what I wear or don't wear. I say, if you like it, and want to use it ..... do it.

I have a black patent Dooney that I put away for Fall. For some reason the patent in black doesn't seem "summery." But all my other black bags I use year-round.

Of course, it's ok to use a black bag in the summer, think of how nice black and white look together. I, however, prefer to put black bags away for the summer. There are so many light colored bags that I love and you cannot use them in the winter, so for me, it's color in the spring and summer.

I do not usually carry all black leather bags in the summer. They seem a bit too dark and heavy. I have a black crochet bag and an off-white linen tote with black leather trim that I carry in the warmer months.

I've been carrying my black leather Maxx NY crocco embossed handbag all year round this past year. It's a timeless style and I don't think it matters if I use it in the summer. It doesn't show dirt which is one of my pet peeves about light colored handbags. When I carry a light color handbag I have to be so careful in order to keep it clean looking -- it's kind of like wearing light colored pants -- you are sure to run up against somebody's dirty auto or something like that!

I think black bags are totally a year round accessory. Maybe depends on the material. I have a couple of black Prada bags that are nylon, and they look great. Very light weight and comfortable.

Black leather, I try and only wear in the fall and winter. But they always get dragged out to use just due to the size and organization they have.
