Storybook Knits?

Started 1272759043.777 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1286912684.153 by TennesseeYankee

I used to admire that line of sweaters - I think I bought one for my MIL some years ago.  I heard she left HSN.. does anyone know why, or where she went?

When did she leave?  She had sweaters a few months ago and was on presenting them.

I almost never watch HSN, but I was flipping channels one day and caught her show - she was saying it was her very last show ever on HSN, that life was taking her on a new path.. but she didn't say what it was.  That was several months ago, maybe even more than a year.

I just took 3 bags of them to goodwill.  My friend and I used to buy them when they went on clearance but we'd still spend a fortune on them.  It was ridiculous the amount we had - I know I had over 50 of them.  Then she lost alot of weight and I moved to Florida.  I saw some the other day in the outlet for 90% off.

You should have put them on ebay (although I've never done that), but I heard there are Storybook Knit collectors who'll pay big bucks for them.

I, too, had dozens of them purchased on clearance. But they still cost a lot of money. Then I figured out that shorter sweaters, coats, etc were better for my short, curvy figure and I sent all my SBK to consignment. Not sure how many, if any, sold. As far as Ebay, I just checked a couple of weeks ago and most of the SBK listed had no or very low bids. It didn't seem like they were moving there either.

I love Storybook Knits and bought 6 of her sweaters when she was on HSN. I hope she did not leave us for good and will be back on some other network, maybe QVC? Very disappointed she did not at least let her customers know why she was leaving, if she was coming back and where and when. Her loyal customers deserve to know!

I saw her last show on HSN.....Someone wished her a happy retirement and she said she wasn't retiring.....There was a message on her website that she would be returning with another line.....Didn't say what.....

Her sweaters were well made. I owned one or two sweater coats. I finally decided that they were over-embellished for me. I bought one for Christmas one year, and spent a day or two ripping off much of the stones, sparkles and trims. It was still too fancy to wear......I just gave it to Goodwill.....

I never shop ebay, but someone told me that's where Storybook Knits go to die! I thought it was curious that she left.. I bought one for my MIL a couple of years ago and it seemed to be very well made.

Several years ago I received as a gift a one of this cardigans. It is beautiful, and very well made indeed. Then I bought a couple more. These are not gaudy or over-embellished. I wear them mostly at home, and I find them quite pretty.

I had a ton of SBK. I, too, got them on sale but still spent a fortune on them. Then I started watching WNTW and realized that long sweaters on my 5 foot body did nothing for me. I tried to sell them at my consignment shop but they did not sell very well. Most of them got donated. I've also checked on Ebay periodically and many never get any bids or if they do sell, it's for very little money. I'm sure there are exceptions but whenever I check Ebay they don't seem to be selling very well.

I've asked QVC to carry her sweaters because they were true works of Art. I show that she has some on QVC - UK, but nothing in the states. Website is still there and email works, but phone number is disconnected. Maybe if many of us write or call in they will track her down and carry her sweaters. It is a shame that such a talented person that was able give such beautiful wearable art has disappeared from the retail market.

I have a dozen or so, and they're beautifully made - truly works of art! I've gotten most of them on eBay, and - as someone pointed out - they sell for surprisingly little. (I got one last week for $12.99.) I don't understand it - QF sells for much more on eBay, and they're not hand-knit or nearly as good quality.
