Clearance on Clothes

Started 1344250304.213 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1344435546.55 by Sassenach1

I am looking for QVC to really run a clearance on clothes. Lower costs and free shipping or spend so much and all ships for free. They just showed a Dialogue item on the morning show with easy pay but the price is still too high for an item that has been gone or going for some time now. They want to get people in with the easy pay and I like easy pay but I still look at that shipping.

I just don't understand the high shipping costs and why not combine our orders instead of buy 2 of one item and then shipping cheaper. I imagine it has something to do with what warehouses the items ship from. I just don't need two of anything in different colors. I usually don't buy two items of clothing the same. Usually only pants.

I no longer buy clothes and very little of anything because of the costs of shipping. Just not worth it.

This holiday season the retailer that gets my money is the one who works for it.

I see things I would like to try on QVC but just can't see it and so I guess I will continue to head to the mall which I do enjoy but just saying.

I agree. I used to order a lot from the Q over years, but not now. Many sites offer free shipping or reduced shipping. Just ordered from Nordstrom with free shipping. JCP free with 50.00 order, Kohls etc.

ITA. Its cheaper to go to a b & m store, especially a discount store such as Kohls, Fashion Bug, TJ Maxx or Target. The Q really sticks it to their customers with the high shipping costs. And I too don't buy the same item in different colors (unless its a layering thermal top for fall/winter) so the buy more and save offer is useless. Amazon Prime has QVC beat. Its the way to go, and a recent online article stated that it costs less to buy from them than Walmart.

QVC clothings needs a "sell by" date (kind of like food Smile!)

I'm not sure if they think they are fooling us old time shoppers or if they think they reel in enough newbies by re-presenting it, but some stuff is sooooo old. It's downright silly how long they let clothing hang around in inventory, either never marking it down or marking it down only a few dollars or just adding easy pay. Once I see multiple easy pays and free shipping on an item, you know it's either a dud or a very very old item. They even let merchandise from discontinued brands from at least 3 years ago sit in inventory at full price (I am stalking one old companion piece to a cardigan in particular and it never gets reduced!) Can't figure out how that's cost effective at all....move it out people!

They need to take a BIG HINT from HSN regarding clearance prices-now THEY know how to mark items down!

For alot of us, the total cost is the total all in cost, because that is what we are spending.

I understand that shipping costs are real, but it is true that alot of big companies manage that cost in their business model. HSN has always had better deals, and I did buy a number of things recently when they were having their fashion clearance sale. But I rarely buy clothes from any of these companies because the chances are high that I will not like the way it fits or feels and will have to send it back. So unless it is something really special for me I only watch for ideas. HSN has too much youth oriented clothes; QVC is much more my style. I will say that Susan Graver tops always make me smile. They often peg the retail price at around 50, then price it with a small discount, which you lose when you add in the shipping so on most of her clothes you are paying about what they consider retail....the price of convenience! Although her tops do have a bit more style features, for me it rarely worth it to even try.

I totally agree with this Kookielady - I do not call a reduction of $3.00 as being a great sale! HSN marks things down quite a bit more. Like a purse I really liked, marked down on HSN from $249 to $139. Now THAT is a sale!!!

Well I get quite a few QVC clothes on sale - on E-bay. You'd be surprised what you can buy new on E-bay for $9.99. I just got an Isaac sweater - new - for $13.00. Can't beat it. I got a brand new Susan Graver knit jacket for $6.99. It's really fun and it's like having a giant outlet mall!

Watch out on the easy pay or advance sales you do get a hold on your account for the money. A clearance of 3.00 is now clearance -- No they are looking for money can't be doing well. Had to shut off Saturday they were so desparate with Shawn and Dennis. And they watch the counters all the time they are on -- like we don't know.

As far as shipping costs, when I as one person can send an item back for $2.00 less than charged And they as a large corporation have a deal on shipping charges and probably get another $2.00 discount at least -- than shipping is part of the total cost.

How can Kohls offer 99 cents -- breast cancer sights offer 2.95 and most sights offer free shipping if you spend $75.00 -- The S&H is a racket.

Clearance prices on QVC are a joke. I usually wait to see if I can find a good deal --with an item I like--as a lunchtime special or limited quantity. I just found a cute Meghan Fabulous top that is now in limited quantity, and I love it. I bought both colors for 29 and change each.

OP, you'll be "looking" for a long time on this site before you see Q clothes on what I would consider a clearance price. It just doesn't happen. A price reduction of 10-20% for something that's been around for a decade is not a sale.

I live close to a Q outlet and they do have spectacular sales. Not all the time and you can never be sure what they'll have but I've gotten many clothing items and shoes for 30-50% of what the same item would cost on-air. And, of course, no s/h either.

I agree about the "like" button. I keep wanting to "like" certain posts and then I remember I'm not on facebook.

QVC is not the place for clearance prices or even a semi-decent sale. Or any special offer. Nope, forget about it!

Most any other on line site is way better than QVC for sale prices and clearance. HSN has them beat, hands down. And, HSN quality is excellent, too.
