I had a 25% coupon off red tag so decided to stop in. OMG such cute things and great prices. I bought an absolutely stunning short sleeve maxi, a gauzy whisper weight top in a great peach color, the best fitting red pants that I have been wanting but have not seen the perfect color till these, a bathing suit, a pair of studded pewter color flats and all for $160! Drop by If you have one in your area!

Husband and I both like Steinmart. Great buys for men's clothing. The store gets such varied reviews, though. Good shoe and accesory selection.

Steinmart reminds me of Kohl's - cheap-looking, overpriced clothing.

Oh, Debbiedd, I'm a Stein Martian! Love everything in that store. Anytime I need a specific item, I go there and there it is! Love the shoes, home decor, and the fashion jewelry. I have to be very careful when I go there. I come out with WAY more than I intended-{#emotions_dlg.biggrin} So glad you had fun and loved your purchases, Mags

luvcosmos, you must have a Stein Mart that is not well- managed. Most of the Stein Marts in our area are upscale, clean, and have high-end designer merchandize. I have been in a few of their stores that are not that way. Hope you find one of the more appealing stores down the road.

Perhaps the one in your neighborhood only stocks items that will sell locally.

The SteinMart and Kohl's I shop at are fabulous! Much nicer quality/selection than Macy's, and equal to Von Maur and Nordstrom.

I love Steinmart. I always find nice things there. The shoe selection is so nice and they have one of the best costume jewelry. It is one store that I can come out with a complete outfit right down to the accessories.

Our local Stein Mart is quite wonderful. Great clothing, great prices, great service. Lots of wonderful choices.

We have a new Kohl's, and at first it seemed they didn't know this market at all. Now they are beginning to move to a more upscale inentory and things are getting better.

Perhaps it's your market that Stein Mart thinks they understand, and perhaps don't. Usually they are a clean, bright, delightful store with the best prices around.

Isn't Steinmart a Nordstroms outlet store? I may be wrong.

Whatever. You can find some great bargains there.

I was in Steinmart yesterday & the store was packed w/bright floral & solid colors. I did find that a good percentage of their tops are some sort of synthetic/nylon that I could not stand to wear in hot weather. I did find a cute cotton top w/a little bling on it. Their costume jewelry dept. is fab!

Debbie, this is MY kind of post!

Make sure you sign up for their rewards card. You get 20% off in your Birthday month, and eventually if you spend $$$$ you get a "black card" that entitles you to the best price they have (extra discounts above the sale price sometimes). How I know this??? It's been my go-to store for years!!!

Stein Mart is based in jacksonville, FL and there are so many stores in that city. In case you are in the area or moving there sometime soon...

I only have 1 store in town but make a trip just about every weekend to see what's new. My DH gets a lot of his clothes there, including a great deal on his wedding suit (beautiful, as it was a courthouse wedding, no tux required)

I could write pages, but just stop by. Most are very clean and well organized, although there are a few ... AND you'll find different stock per area (ie the one at the beach had beachier stuff, the one in a high $$ area had more boutique clothing) so if you have more than one nearby...make the circuit andsee if you find a good fit for you.

I've shopped at Stein Marts in Texas, California and Ohio...and loved them all! Great clothes, accessories, shoes, housewares...and all very chic!

Thanks ladies! I was so excited to find such great things. Too bad I didn't have time and couldnt go through the rest of the store. Cute stuff in the home section too. I agree that sometimes the stores reflect the area where they are located. Don't get me wrong, plenty of stuff that I didn't like but I walk past a lot at Neiman's too. The bathing suit is a miracle suit which at Nordstroms is over $100 all on it's own. The flats, Tahari, etc,. Nothing cheap or cheesy about this place unless, of course, you like paying full retail. Well, in that case, don't go;)

Yes SM has some very nice clothes if you don't have to shop in the big girls section. There's some disadvantages to shopping with QVC (shipping and return costs) but I really like that they sell the same clothing item in size XXS to 3X and no matter what size you order, it's the same price. I refuse to shop from catalogue stores that charge $5 to $10 more because of the size difference. I believe it's a discriminatory practice.

My SM like any other place is very hit or miss. And because for me it's more often a miss than a hit and it's about 35 minutes away, it's not a store that is even on my radar.

However, I used to go to Columbus, Oh on a regular basis and the SM there was fabulous. I always made sure to stop and I always came out with something.

Debbie congrats on your shopping spree. I love finding good deals on great items!

You can't buy love but you can adopt it. Adopt, don't shop.

Like any other store, including QVC, sometimes there are good buys and sometimes I look for an hour and put everything back! I like Steinmart, but there's no magic. I've gone many times and come home with my coupons still in my bag! Fortunately, the store is close and there's a Publix next door, so it's never a wasted trip!

I've yet to try Stein Mart but am going to give it a go. I never go in Kohl's. I think Kohl's is good for the very young girls and children. The majority of items I buy from QVC, I am fairly confident, they're not going to fall apart in washing and will maintain color. Not everything, but most things. Also, you have the advantage of seeing QVC items explained thoroughly and modeled. Many times, you can't even find a sales clerk in retail. A huge advantage is the 30 day trial and send back. You use something and retail just isn't going to take it back. Particularly cosmetics. Plus you save gas, don't have the trouble of mall shopping, the niceness of not trying clothes that have been tried by others and many times cosmetic dirty. Additionally, the convenience of arrival at your door. Yes, the S&H is high, but if you find what you like from QVC, I think it is still worthwhile. My complaint would be to urge them not to be greedy. They're doing very well, and shouls treat their clients with "special" deals very often.

My local Stein Mart just closed and its too bad. It was a great store for finding up to date accessories and lots of neat gift ideas. It had a designer section with more expensive clothing, but also racks of 30%-50% off. Shopping those could be like a treasure hunt!

I love Stein Mart and miss it since I no longer have one near me. I wish there was a Stein Mart in SW Michigan!

Taja, this thread was not one against QVC but rather another alternative where I had luck this time. I too love Internet shopping for all the reasons you mentioned but frankly QVC is getting less and less of my business in recent years. Plenty online who now offer free shipping, great discounts and liberal return policies.

I'm lucky to have a fabulous SteinMart. Very good quality, great prices, and very up to date fashions. Our store is always packed! It's actually fun shopping there. I don't understand the comparison to Kohls with cheap clothing. I sure don't see that at my store. I just went last week, and if anyone here likes the LOGO line, there is plenty of those type tops there too. They really carry a range of styles.

Let me know if you suddenly become interesting.

I understand what you're saying, Debbie. I am already looking around, also. I think I've gotten QVC stuck for a while, and should really "spread the wealth." {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} I'm a big consumer and owe it to myself to be the wisest of shoppers. I like good quality, good value and appreciation as a good customer, like everyone. I notice HSN has such low S&H. To me, basic S&H should be a set fee everywhere. If HSN is always lower, it says QVC is making money. I would like them to make their profit in another way. This just makes for an unhappy customer.
