What's more in now, bootcut jeans or straight leg?

Started 1318284979.687 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1318479651.017 by Ladyjenn

I've been wearing bootcut, but need new jeans. What's more in now? And no, I don't want the skinny jeans or leggings!

Your only two choices are bootcut or straight legs?

Thanks!

I'm wearing both, depending on the top. I don't get any weird looks with either. I love my straight legged ones from Ralph Lauren, and my boot cut Levi's. I plan to continue to wear my boot cut throughout this fall/winter. We'll see for next fall.

Anything seems to be in right now.

I wear both. The boot cut is great with short ankle boots. The skinny/legging style can be worn with either a nice pair of high heel shoes or tucked into knee high boots.

Every single pant shape is in style, and I've been wearing it all, with the exception of wide leg!

Let me know if you suddenly become interesting.

That's why I was confused.

I haven't worn straight leg for quite a while, so I need to try some on I guess.

Thanks all!

Straight but BC with ankle boots, as another poster mentioned. But, the BC needs to be slim too, not overly belled. Or, just get what looks good on you and the types of shoes you wear. Good luck.

Our purpose is to please God and to do it lovingly.

I usually go for bootcut but lately I've been on a straight leg kick.

I love both too! Straight fit into my boots - hoping to give them a workout very soon!

There was an insert in our Sunday paper yesterday showcasing some of the stores at the Mall of America. I took particular notice of the pants/jeans the models were wearing. Forgive me, mima, but they were very form fitting/skinny.

I have not worn bootcut jeans for a while. Instead I have opted to wear either flare legs or those that are a cross between a straight leg and a skinny.

All leg styles are in right now. I think the leg style depends on your hips. Small hips, go for the straight or skinny leg. If you have wide hips, a boot cut or slight flare will minimize the size of the hips.

I'm wearing both. Discovered Chico's straight leg jeans last year & love them. They aren't 'skinny', just straight. I'm lucky to have a Chico's Outlet not too far from home. You can't beat the price of $30!

Boot cut looks best on me, so that's what I'm sticking with.

I think both are in right now. The really new look is high waisted, which isn't really all that high. I know people call them 'mom jeans' but I disagree with that. To me, the higher, tailored waist with a slightly flared bottom is not a mom jean. Mom jeans are baggy in the rear, tapered at the ankles and have no stretch. They are also usually two inches too short!

I have also seen all styles in the stores lately, but more flares than anything. I always wear straight leg. They are the most flattering cut on me. I don't care what is in style, but straight leg IMO are the hardest style to find. I have wider hips, and every bootcut I try on makes my hips look even wider, so I have never understood the whole bootcut is flattering idea.

Well, I'm glad because the higher waisted jeans are so much more comfy! Love your description of Mom jeans. LOL

Good question. Skinny jeans look bad on me. For me, a straight leg is slightly better. However, I'm a trouser jean kinda girl, as I find they flatter me more than skinny, boot or straight leg.

Oh the straight leg jeans for sure.

I've never been much of a jeans girl until

recently. I am buying up every straight leg jeans I think

will look good on my bottom half.....so far so good!

I still love my trouser jeans but, the straight leg jeans is taking

over.

May, I suggest the best fitting jeans I own to date to you?

They are the IMAN Global Chic Contour Curves Designer Denim Boot-Cut Jeans.{#emotions_dlg.crying}

The fit will blow you away. I find them to run true to size.....fitted but

not tight.

If you need just a lil more room sizing up will help & they won't be big

on you at all.

I have the chambray & every morning, I click onto HSN to see if

a size 6 in the Indigo Blue is available.....These jeans are a WOW

the second after you zip them up, fasten the button

& run to look at yourself in the mirror.

5'6 & up?? these are the jeans for you! I love them with my

B Mak 'Foley' suede lace up shooties.....Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!

ETA: Your legs will never look better in a pair jeans....long & lean!

I'm seeing both, in the stores and on people.

I lean towards the straight leg. It seems more versatile, able to be dressed up, etc.

If I were you, I'd choose the style I liked best. Or, some of both!

I have seen from the fashion Mags that a nice boot cut is totally in. Thank you because I do have a number of those. I actually do feel boot cut is the most flattering on one's leg and it is not because of Lisa, it is because I have jeans of all types and put the different leg options on for my best critic, my DH, to look at and judge and he can be 'very honest" so I trust him. He says that the boot cut looks the best on me. Also, he loves my skinny jeans in boots. Just one guy who really knows nothing about fashion just what he likes. If I can please him then that is the whole enchllada, isn't it? Wink

I keep trying to find a pair of boot cut jeans that look good on me, but despite what everyone says, they are NOT universally flattering. They seem to make my wide hips look wider, so no boot cut for me - straight leg only.

If you ask the "fashionista" here, there's only one pair to wear: overly long, dark boot cut. Of course, you do have to jut your hip out to THERE to wear them as she does. {#emotions_dlg.lol}

Both styles are currently in style - Nordstroms has a nice pick of current new styles here!

I love Hudson jeans and am dying to try the new slim bootcut. Looks like a very flattering style! I personally love skinnys & boots with a flowy top (but still form fitting thru the shoulders/bust/towards waist), or bootcut with a more all-over fitted top.

I will be skipping the colored jeans and that new wax coated denim.

Have fun jeans shopping!

In summer I never wear jeans. Just getting back into them again.

I love them both. I usually wear boot-leg with my shooties and dressier shoes and boots.

When I wear my very straight leg jeans, I usually wear ballet flats or tuck them into boots, tall ones.
