Jane Treacy - Extra Extra Small size?

Started 1314848106.27 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1315778941.943 by winamac1

Hi folks,

I LOVE Jane Treacy, she is one of the best hosts... I am watching her on air now, mentioning the Rose of Tralee sweater she is wearing is an 'extra-extra small'? Um, is it just me, or do I see her a tad bigger than an extra extra small?? I've noticed that even the larger sized 'maria' says she wears a Large-yet she looks bigger than that as well-- Are the sizes overly big on QVC? I dont see how Jane would fit a double x-small.....

Oh dear Lord. My jaw dropped when she said that. Between her trying to "strike a pose" and the fact that she couldn't button that sweater if she tried...I was truly embarrassed for her. An extra extra small is a size 0 or 00 in my mind.

I wear a medium i a lot of Q clothing and I am usually a large to an extra large, I think their clothes are made big, I always size down on everything I get.

That sweater must be cut very big if Jane is an XXS. Although the sweater did look tight even in the arms. I was very surprised when she said she was an XXS.

Jane has narrow shoulders and could very well be an XXS.

By GEORGE, we will find our way back home.

QVC sizes have always seemed on the larger side to me.

The Q does cut larger than most stores and I don't have anything against Jane, but um, I would think a size S would fit her best in most items - narrow shoulders or not, things still have to button and/or zip. Maybe xs since tv does add weight, but definitely not xxs, come on.

I have seen her in person and she is tiny.

I know in past years those sweaters have run really large. To give you an idea in years past...when I was at my fatest, I still wore an XL and that was roomy. I've never worn any of them out. I put the things on and started sweating when it was temps in the 30's. I doubt I will ever wear them. All of mine have zippers. I liked the way the zippers went both ways. They are very, very well made. I will probably order my daughter (the one who's always cold) a new sweater.

I almost spit out my tea when she said xxs! My Mom called me and couldn't believe it either. I always find it to be better to be honest and admit it when I have gained weight. Everyone realizes it, so trying to deny weight gain is kind of useless.

Some people are just not good at judging weight. One of my Drs that I've gone to for a very long time (she's my back Dr), didn't believe me when I told her my weight! Swear to you, she left the room and brought back a scale! I got on it and she said, "I would have never guessed". Well Duh!?? It's not like I look like Twiggy! I have a belly that if I was 35 years younger you'd think I was 4 months pregnant! I think when you are fat like me it is difficult to gauge. I would think Jane is probably XXS in those sweaters. They run really big. Even at my fattest maybe 2 or 3 (I've lost track) years ago when I bought these sweaters (the ones with the 2 way zippers) I bought an XL and it was really a little too large. So, she may be that size.

I think those sweaters do run large. She said after many requests to get an x-x-sm, so I believe that she is wearing the size she states. Why would she say otherwise?

Ummm, she said she was wearing an xxs, she is obviously not an xxs. The buttons are pulling so much they may pop off and she can't even get the bottom button done up at all. I don't know why she doesn't wear her proper size to present a proper fit.

I don't know what JRT's measurements are, but something about her saying "extra, extra small" just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm not blaming Jane here, but haven't we all had enough of negative sizes and images in fashion that push women to look like famine victims? Nothing against the truly petite women out there, but if the sizing in these sweaters was really so huge, I can't see how they would've been able to keep selling. JMHO.

There is a reason she isn't buttoning the bottom buttons. IMO the sweater is not at all flattering on her.

I don't care what size is on the tag, just, please put on a sweater that really does button, instead of pulling around your hips. She even said Look how easily I can button this all the way.... Maybe you "can" but you probably shouldn't. IMO

The Aran Craft sweaters usually run one size larger, so you should go down one size with most of them when you order. My own experience with their sweater coats and cardigans has been just that, as well.

However, Jane has said in the past that she's always an XS in Aran Craft sweaters (of which she has MANY, as we know), but felt it was too large for her, so that is why she was wearing the new XXS, and why she was so excited about it. I know that other customers are as well, as they've been requesting it for a while.

I think that most here - and, we're just sayin' - would agree that Jane should wear an XS to make it more relaxed and flattering on her. They're not meant to be tight or snug sweaters, and when you're pear-shaped she is (me, too), you need to work with the particular style, and also take into account what you'll normally wear under it.

Sorry for babbling on...{#emotions_dlg.blush}

then there is carolyn saying she wears a large and leah i dont know neither one of those look that small. they look much bigger.

so maybe that is how it is on tv. and maybe they lie about the size they wear. i dont know but carolyn nothing fits everything is way too small for her.

None of the hosts should bother mentioning what size they (think) they wear- after all - on the tv they're only a few inches tall and wide no matter how big the tv is LOL! We can't tell if they're telling the truth but fact is we can see that the clothes either do or do not fit them.

This line typically runs large. I'm 5'6 and can definitely wear an XXS in this (if it runs the same as their other sweaters), which is what I ordered. It wasn't very flattering on her, but I think she should have picked a color and left it open. Other than that, the sweaters are beautifully made and forgiving size wise.

Aran Crafted sweaters run large and have a lot of give. Their smallest size has always be big on me.

yes, jane must be quite short, the irish sweaters have always seemed so long on her, sleeves all rolled up, etc.

she seems to have wide hips, so it must be tough then to get a good fit. i am taller and thinner than her, and any irish sweater i tried was huge on me, so i gave up. i recall few years back, she was wearing an irish sweater in a larger child's size, and was happy that fit her better, she said.

think jane needs a jr petite type size, more in proportion for her. a very small misses size, is not the right shape. probably not the right shape for most mature women either.

''among saints''...why, thank you...

No surprise here that Jane is wearing an XXS since I'm tons smaller than her and the only thing that has ever fit me from QVC has been two Stan Herman robes.

Maybe but certainly not in the hips!

Because you're mine, I walk the line :-)
