Please help me decide what color nylons I should wear

Started 1306707993.293 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1306855386.797 by MartieHugs

Any fashionistas out there that can help me decide what color nylons should I wear with a fancy black dress and black high heeled slingback shoes that has a bow with a silver ornament in the center. I have a wedding to go to and I can't remember the last time I wore a pair of nylons. Should I wear black sheer or should I wear a nude color? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I would go with the nude.

If I were to wear nylons, I'd wear the sheer black.

Nude - yuk.

I hate nylons, but I hate nude nylons more.

I would most definitely wear the sheer black. I think this would give you a much more polished look than the nude.

If you get a nude that matches your skintone it is quite attractive. I'm not talking about the universal "nude" like the ones that used to come in plastic eggs...........{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

I would wear black sheer stocking to match your dress and shoes. If I were wearing a brown shoe or beige shoe, I would wear a stocking to match my skin.

With a fancy black dress and shoe I would definitely go with a very sheer black (the sheerest you can find).

Is it this summer? Do you have to wear any?

At this time of year, I would go with the skin-toned. I like sheer black in the fall/winter months. If you are willing to spend the money, there are incredibly sheer hose with high lycra content. They come in shades like buff, ivory, colors other than light beige which does look like it came out of the plastic egg.

Yes the wedding is June 10th. I just tried some skin bronzer and it is making blotchy marks on me. I don't think I should use it. I just thought with a fancy dress that I should wear nylons.

You could wear either, but I vote for the sheer black. With a black dress and black shoes, this will be very dressy, finished -- and slimming, which is never a bad thing!

Either would be fine, but the sheer black might be a better look, especially since your outfit sounds very dressy.

Nylons? It's summer, can't you go bare? If not, super sheer black. Maybe you should just get some thigh highs. They would be much more comfortable in the heat.

Nude hosiery? Oh my no no no. Go for the sheerest of the sheerest black you can find.

Very sheer black, or maybe, depending on the dress, black lace.

Some obervations: This afternoon I went to see a play. In the audience I saw several older (I'd say 60+) women wearing dresse and no stockings. While they undoubtedly were comfortable, it was not an attractive look. On the other hand I saw a lovely younger woman (I'd say 40-45) wearing a lovely black dress just avoce her knees and black strappy heels. She, too, had bare legs. Must say that was a good look for her.

My opinion - wear what makes you look and feel attractive. I'd choose to wear sheer black because that would be most attractive on me.

I agree with you. I will only wear sheer jet black hose. I feel like black ones make my legs look great too, more than nude. Hate the nude ones, for one thing, it's hard to get just the right shade of nude, without it being too pale or too orange lol.

Black, nude or whatever - just wear some! I despise seeing older women dressed up with bare legs. Let's face it. As we get older things just don't look quite the same. I will never understand the no nylon trend unless you are wearing a casual dress.

either nude or sheer black, nude is nice for this time of the year if you want to lighten up just a bit..... i agree, whichever you decide on will be appropriate as long as you are wearing a pair of nice hose.

I would say if it's daytime, nude; if it's evening, wear the sheer black.

I vote for sheer black.

I'll hang with catsrule, et al. A sheer black stocking is stunning with a black dress or ensemble (double that if the event starts in late afternoon!). The only downside is that it can readily show a snag. Think about taking a backup pair.

In top 3 order:

1. Go with the bare legs and no hose

or

2. Wear very sheer black hose

or

3. Wear pants {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

black sheer is my vote. will make the outfit a little more dressy.
