Lisa Robertson's Boots from 12/11/10 show

Started 1292348461.96 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1292866584.427 by Irshgrl31201

At the end of last night's P.M. Style, Amy responded to viewer questions regarding Lisa Robertson's boots she wore on the Saturday night show (12/11/10). Since when is QVC identifying a Host's personal clothing/shoe preferences? Since they were identified as Charles Jourdan boots (and the average QVC viewer typically cannot afford them and if I am incorrect I apologize) perhaps QVC now has a vested interest in the shoe company since they are plugging the expensive shoe line.

I don't think it is appropriate for QVC hosts to be identifying their personal preferences (when not available on the Q).

Thanks,

Thanks,

I saw the end of the show, when Lisa mentioned the boots. To answer your question, people on this board (and perhaps not on this board) tend to call customer service or email Lisa to find out which color of nail polish she uses, the item #'s for her jewelry, the sweater she was wearing, and so on. There is a definite interest in LR's attire, thus the mention.

However, the manner in which Lisa mentioned the boots made it quite clear that they are not a QVC item. She mentioned the name of the designer and followed it by saying, "Sorry, I got them at a Christmas sale." <----I think to downplay their expense because the typical QVC customer would likely be unable to afford the boot.

I think you'd have to have legs like Heidi Klum or Giselle Buchen to wear those boots well.

Lisa's a pretty woman but those boots just didn't suit her. Way too much.

JMHO.

I did not get a good look of Lisa in the boots during the show. However, after seeing them through links I have to say, it is definitely a unique boot. I can appreciate the style, because it is a boot that not everyone can pull-off. IMO, it makes it worth the purchase. You definitely "won't see yourself coming and going".

This is a little O/T, but that same day, during one of the Makowsky shows, one of younger models was wearing the cutest SKIRT and I can't get it off my mind!! She was wearing boots with the skirt and I cannot recall the top (maybe a sweater). It was knee-length skirt, sort of willowy, looked dark brown, sort of a sueded look to it, and she was carrying a Makowsky handbag. I know this isn't enough info to ask for help in finding it, but what a cute skirt!!

I agree that I did not particularly like the boots that Lisa was wearing---at least, they are not for me!!

I love uniqueness, but I think those boots are truly dreadful.

For me, it's not a question about whether or not I could afford them. I, personally, think they are ugly and wouldn't want them! I also don't feel that it's appropriate to spend hundreds of dollars on one piece of clothing/accessory item. It's not about money. It's about values. In addition, we spend over $20,000 on elem school and spend money on far more important things!!

If Lisa can afford them, who is anyone to say she shouldn't spend her money on them?

It's not really anyone else's concern and I certainly wouldn't say she has a lack of values because she spends money on clothing and/or accessories.

You can't buy love but you can adopt it. Adopt, don't shop.

I agree. Luvmycats, you mention you are spending $20,000 on an elementary school education, which you obviously believe to be a worthy investment in your child's future. However, Lisa is a single woman (i.e. not married) and has no children, thus only has to worry about self.

Some would say quality over quantity.

I couldn't care less what Lisa spends her money on. It's none of our business, and she obviously makes great money. My attitude is as long as you're not "asking me for money, lol", go buy whatever you want.

I just wouldn't buy those boots as I don't like them. If I loved, loved, loved a pair of boots that were that pricey and if I could afford them, I'd spend that much on an item. It's not for me to judge how Lisa or anyone else spends their money. To me the boots are ugly, but to her, they obviously aren't. She may not like what I buy.

I didn't care for the boots, but I think it's great that QVC shared the info for those who did like them.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Here's my spin on the 'what's Lisa R wearing, using, etc...' inquiries. Though I do not care what she wears in her personal life, since there seems to be such a fervor over just about everything she wears on air, it would be better if Lisa perhaps purchased QVC 'work' clothes and wear all the Gossip watches and other QVC jewelry she says she has. That way, when folks want to know exactly what Lisa is wearing, the Boards won't light up about her $800 sweater, $30,000 watch, 'uber' expensive boots, etc.

Since Value seems to be what QVC sells, I believe the hosts should reflect that in what they wear. Should there ever be a Neiman Marcus shopping channel or Bergdorf shopping channel or Henri Bendel shopping channel, then the label driven fashions and jewelry are all fair game. Until then, maybe Lisa R should display just a bit of restraint in wearing her expensive 'finery'. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Seriously doubt there would be much of a "fervor" over what LR is wearing if it was limited to only QVC clothing. QVC knows that having their hosts as best dressed as possible is an important part of their overall marketing strategy. If they were limited to just QVC lines, that would not be the case. No reason whatsoever why any of the hosts should not be able to wear any and all designer clothing they desire. The limited amount of publicity an occassional piece of clothing gets is of no consequence to QVC, imo.

Have to agree with Winamac ............ wouldn't want those boots even if they were given to me for free. Nothing appealing about them at all ~

I just think it is amazing how some women with much less income than Lisa actually care about what she wears enough to hunt it down and perhaps even buy it, when they don't have her 1/2 million a year income. Seriously, someone would have to GIVE me those boots for free, and then PAY me to wear them.

I just think a lot of what she wears is really unattractive and some of what she wears is really unattractive, on her. Those might fit both of those categories. They look like something drug out of the prop and wardrobe closet from the Pretty Woman film. Hideous.

LOL Amp--ITA w/ your comment about someone paying you to wear them. I think they are absolutely awful. Sorry, but I must be truthful.{#emotions_dlg.sneaky}

I had boots similar to them but w/o the design on them. Styles like that are strictly a personal choice.
