I am challenged in the "matching colors" department. I put on on pair of pinstriped chocolate pants and a solid brown blouse. When I looked in the mirror I thought the outfit looked kind of plain. I have a mostly rich earth tones in by blouse/top wardrobe with a few exceptions.

What colors would go nicely chocolate brown so that the color would not be so plain.

Just about anything works with chocolate... Consider a pretty french blue, cream, coral, a soft green... Your options are many!

Almost any shade of red except some of the blue-reds, pale spa blue-green, golds, coppers, russets, rust, oatmeal, rich cream. Coral pink is just yummy.

Can't believe nobody said yellow. So I'll say it. Yellow goes great with brown.

Turquoise is gorgeous with chocolate brown; so are some shades of red.

My fave lately is light blue or kind of aqua blue with brown. So much so, that I recently bought the real soft TS blanket from the southern channel in aqua blue and threw a chocolate brown pillow on the bed yesterday! Love the color combo. I have also worn red with chocolate, and also I have put a light blue denim shirt with my Denim & Co. chocolate moleskin skirt before. Some shades of fuschia with brown are pretty too.

I love turquoise with chocolate brown. Brown is so versatile that I can't think of a color that doesn't go well with it.

Turquoise or light pink. Personally, I am not a blue person, but turquoise and brown are a beautiful combo to me.

Gold and a lime green look good w/ chocolate. I always seem to get compliments esp. with gold. I then tie it back with a brown belt and accessories.

I haven't read any of the replies, so please forgive me if I say something that anybody else has said yet...

I like to try to consider WHERE whatever color shows up in nature... and what natural plant would be near it.

So.. chocolate brown.. reminds me of tree bark.

Therefore, any natural greens... or lighter colors of brown... would definitely work.

I'd be careful, though, about wearing TOO much brown at once.

Especially because if you're trying to get a color of brown that is VERY close to the chocolate brown you want to match.. THEN you're guaranteed NOT to have a good look.

That's because "close" is NOT a "good thing." It makes the eye do a little "hiccup" as it tries to blend the colors together as you look at both of those colors .. that are SO close to each other .. together.

So.. I'd say a light tan... would be the closest "brown" I'd go for if I was going to wear it next to chocolate brown.

Hope this helps?
