Based on the below article I found on BNET....have you ever been "polled" by an operator about the host?

For QVC show hosts, a portion of their quarterly bonuses are based on their popularity with viewers. "Operators would poll shoppers while they placed an order, asking them how they liked the show host's look and voice," explains Phyllis Lampkin, one of the original full-time hosts of QVC's "Fashion Channel."

Wish they would poll me!

I wish Phyllis Lampkin would come on Q now as a host. She had a lot of class when she was on the Fashion Channel.

I usually use .com to order but was just curious to know if they still practiced this "polling" when you place your order via the phone.

I have never been polled but then when I order I usually order via online. I rarely, RARELY watch Q on tv now. I would LOVE to be polled though, I have tons of things to say especially about the hosts, I would love to give my 2 cents to TPTB.

I order a lot of stuff. I cannot believe this story is true. If true, they would have called me. LOL

Thank goodness nobody that orders from QVC gets polled, or the hosts wouldn't see one dime in bonuses.

i have never been polled either, but i would not and could not bad mouth someone who is trying their best to make their living.

they may not be very good at it, but that is not for me to decide. that is what management is for.

this is probably the reason that no one here has been polled. QVC would never do anything so stupid.

I've never been polled either, but I'd tell them to have the hosts/hostesses dress a little better. Not all of them, but some look like they're dressing for "Casual Friday" every day of the week!!! JMHO!!!

Their compensation is probably based on several items, with this being one of them. Most sales jobs are. Have you heard the call-ins that make it onair? ALL the hosts should get high marks going by this criteria. It shocks the heck out of me how some women can go on and on gushing about a salesperson. And, it makes no difference who it is. I actually get ill enough to switch the channel on some of them. Sorry, but I can't relate to this behaviour, or anything that takes away from my shopping experience.

Let me know if you suddenly become interesting.

That article is over 15 years old.

It states the polling took place in the very beginning of QVC.

These days, no polling is necessary due to hi tech ways of

monitoring and measuring a host's sales. Sales trumps personality.

While doing research for the Linea Ladies, I found the Liberty Media/QVC corporate presentations to investors in NYC in October. One of the graphics for the presentation stated that the Q was seeking to "promote hosts as brands." This statement was attached to a picture of Shawn Kellinger.

She is my least favorite host, with her made up words, hyperactivity and (to me) odd way of putting clothing items together. If this is the person the Q wants to promote as a "brand," count me out.

The Q does not need to "poll" via phone operators as they did in the old days. there are these forums, social media sites, and of course sales to track how a host is doing with the customers.

I enjoy watching the video clips and buying online.

I think by "branding" they might mean associating certain hosts with certain QVC brands. The reason why Shawn's picture might have been displayed is her strong connection to Motto .............. she likes, wears it often and mentions frequently that she buys many of their items.

Just a thought as I do associate Shawn with Motto now~ She might have been the first host they tried this new marketing strategy with~

I actually was sent an email last year to rate the hosts, tell about my favorites, etc. It was very interesting! I surely did it.

I almost always call in to order and I have never been polled about anything.

I have been shopping with the Q for over 15 years and I have never been asked about my opinion of the hosts. I think they can get a feel for who is liked and popular by the caller's responses. I have never heard anyone tell Pat James DeMentri or Patti Rielly that they just love them and they are their favorites. I think that they get a base salary and any bonuses are based on the amount of sales during the respective host's shows.

Never been polled either. I don't know who heard this. I do believe with Norriesgirls in all she says.
