My new Talbots special occasion dress

Started 1263494322 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1263517526 by Voots
I have a wedding to attend in February, so I needed to find a special occasion dress.
I happened to find this dress last night at Talbots. It was on a 25% off rack, but it rang up at 40% off. I haven't owned a dress from Talbots in about 20 years (and almost didn't try it on), but this one fits PERFECTLY. It comes to the knee on me, and I'm 5'7". I still can't believe I found such a pretty dress at such a good price. I'll be able to wear it for other events, too.
What do you think?

How very classy! I am sure you will wear your new dress well!

I buy expensive suits. They just look cheap on me.

Great dress. I bought the lace one shoulder dress and wore it on New year's. I wish I'd gotten the great price you did, but I love it! Have fun.

Maddie, etal,
You are lucky to have found one on the sale rack. We had them at our store and they flew out the door! So glad that you liked it...BTW, the 40% off clearance continues until the beginning of next week..

in my opinion, you just can't have too many little black dresses. it's just one of those things.
love the lace maddie, it really adds a girly touch to a black sheath dress, which is so flattering on everyone.

It is a lovely dress. What style shoes will you be wearing with it?

Thanks for all the positive comments, Ladies!
I am still amazed that is fits so well! Usually those sheath dresses don't work well with my long torso and curvy behind!
As for shoes, I'm still considering my options. I have a pair of Vaneli black suede peep-toe high heels with a slight platform. I tried them on with tights and the dress and it all looked nice. Those shoes look hip and not boring.
I also have a pair of Vaneli black patent pointy-toe high heels in the Harielle style. They are more conservative and traditional, but they're not the most comfortable shoes. I can get through an evening in them, though.
I have a pair of Cole Haan black suede/black patent slingbacks, but I would prefer to have either tights or very sheer black hose on for this formal wedding.

Beautiful dress. I am also shopping for a dress to wear to a wedding in February in Florida. I was thinking one could not wear black to a wedding. Is that wrong?

I tried being patient but it took too long.

That's a beautiful dress! I saw it on a friend of mine who wore it to a Christmas party. It fit her well too. You were very lucky to get it on sale - she paid full price and I think it was worth the $120 she paid.
