NYDJ Not Your Daughter's Jeans

Started 1286151400.17 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1286374344.46 by carrots8

ok, who else is loving these jeans and where have they been all my life? i can get a lot of different brands to fit my rear, but when it comes to inseam, i always have a problem. chances are if they are long enough in the store, after washing, they shrink and i'm left with cold ankles. typically, this is how my daughter gets most of her jeans cuz i just pass them on to her when they shrink...we wear the same size but her legs are shorter than mine. if i purchase the 'long' length in jeans, the zipper gaps on me which isn't attractive.

was browsing thru lord and taylor today and these jeans caught my eye. i had previously heard of the brand but didn't know how special they are till i tried them on. LOVE the tummy panel, the length is perfect (they must be at least 33") and they fit like a glove.

they are pricey, but i would not hesitate to purchase these again in the future or when they are on sale. these are my new favorite jeans!

anyone else love these?

Have been buying for a couple years now. Macy's carries them. Macy's sends out "No exclusions" coupons right before thanksgiving. That means that you may use the sale coupon on the NYDJ brand. All other Macy's coupon offers do not allow a discount on NYDJ. The no exclusions coupons appear in november and again in may. It also allows a discount on dooney, coach and watches. That's when I do my main buying, when macy's sends out these coupons.

The inseams on NYDJ run 33 - 33 1/2" up to 34", depending on the style.

Yes, I love them...they were made for me. Diane Gilman's jeans are too long in the rise and do nothing for me. These are perfect.

I have worn them a few years. I like them, but I decided I like Chico's more. The NYDJ are just a tad too long, and I am 5'7". I don't want to pay for hemming, and it is too much of a hassle. (I usually buy them at Nordie's, and hemming is free, but I just don't want to bother.)

What I find is that they stretch. So, even though they aren't too long at first, by the end of the day they are. I think I must be between sizes.

I love them. I got a couple of pair for $40 each at Nordstrom's Rack. The washing instructions tell you to air dry. I did forget and dry them once, but they were okay because they were a bit big.

ooooooooh, thanks for the tips on getting them at a discount. i didn't realize macy's carries them and will be sure to check out ross and nordstrom rack too. the label in mine said to tumble dry on low, but i may hang dry.

so if they fit perfectly when i put them on in the morning, will they be a little loose at the end of the day? if so, maybe i'll go down a size like i used to in banana republic jeans.

thanks ladies, you are the best!!!

I think these jeans work better for apple shapes (just an FYI). They did not work for me and actually made me look 10 lbs. heavier. The quality is nice though.

Silverstar, etal,

I have multiple pairs of NYDJ...I have to try them on, however, as I wear a different size depending on the style. They are comfortable, well made, and fit well. I always consider them a good purchase.

Regards,

S-

I have four pair and love them. They have a lot of spandex in them so they do stretch out. I usually size down, but it depends on the style. Also, I did shrink one pair because I left them in the dryer too long. I recommend drying them for 10 min on low to get the wrinkles out them finish by hang drying. Sometimes NM has them on sale with free shipping.

Yes, these are a good fit for apple shapes and fit me similar to the Diane Gilman. I wear both and the quality is really similar believe it or not. The jean material for both are very hardy and stay nice wash after wash.

Great to know! I don't know why, but I never check their jeans dept. and now I will.

I found them to be very high waisted -- they didn't look good on me (I'm a petite hourglass shape). I much prefer Jag jeans.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE NYDJ jeans. They are the only jeans I can wear that don't gap in the back. Believe me, I've tried them all. The sizing does vary between styles, so you do have to try each jean on. They wash well and wear like iron.

I'm a pear and they didn't work for me. I too found them way too high waisted. However, I didn't know they made differen't styles. The store I was in had one rack of them, all the same and that's what I tried on. Definitely not for me.

You can't buy love but you can adopt it. Adopt, don't shop.

Love NYDJ! Been wearing them for a few years now. Bought my first pair a few years ago in Nordies. I am a hard to fit gal and these fit better than Chico's 00! Careful, though, the length will shrink if they are put in the dryer on high heat. Have fun in those jeans!

Yes -each style and type of material is a little different fit including the lenghts.

if you do need to have them shortend, then buy at nordstroms, they do the alterations and either send it to you, or you can come in and pick them up. thats why i buy my nydj at nordstom. that also holds true for all clothing, makes it so much easier. love the jeans, and the price has really come down!
