I have a Sony Touch e-reader, purchased specifically so I can download books free from my local library. About half the time I download books from the library via Overdrive, I am unable to open the book on the reader. It says 'protected page'. I am able to open that same book on my computer, just not the reader. Furthermore, sometimes I have opened a book, begun reading and at some point it then comes up 'protected page' and I am unable to finish the book on the reader. GRRRRRRRRR
Most of the books from the library come thru on EPUB format. Am I limited to just those? Or???? At some point, I will order a Kindle for non-library books (and that time may be fast approaching if this problem continues!)
Help appreciated! TIA :-)
Apparently, there is a problem when you have both Adobe Digital Version (ADE) type books and EPUB books on the reader at the same time. There are several suggested solutions to be found on the following thread that you might like to try.
Thanks for the reference site. At least I know it's a known problem. Given the comments on that site, it's not fixed yet. Very frustrating as borrowing library books is the reason I chose the Sony.
Where's the edit button? Just realized I miss-spelled Sony.
Anyway, tried taking the library books off the Sony and re-loaded them back in. Nada. Still 'protected page', so I sent all of them back to the library un-read. Boo. Hiss.
The article referenced does not have any answer, save Overdrive is aware and 'trying to fix the problem'. Doesn't help us in the meantime.
I will try another book; one at a time if necessary, as getting books from the library is so sweet (when it works!).
If anyone has any other ideas.............TIA!
