Help with TracFone

Started 1346266508.12 in Electronics Talk | Last reply 1346359742.477 by Desertdi

I just received my Samsung TracFone and I am puzzled that there are no instructions on how to store phone numbers I usually call. Can this be done on the phone? I thought that was a given.

I'd appreciate any hints you can give me.

I am kind of technology challenged, how do you get a phone number?

Here is a link to Tracfone tutorials http://www.tracfone.com/models/phoneModels.jsp?brandName=TRACFONE Click on the model number phone you have & you can look through the tutorials to find your answer. Hope your phone is listed. If not post the model number of the phone you have & someone may be able to help.

TracFone will assign one.

When you purchase a Tracfone a phone number is issued to your phone unless you already have a number you want to transfer.

CLEM ~ If I understood you correctly you're just asking how to store phone numbers you would dial, right? Not looking for a number for your phone as others have posted about.

Normally, when you dial a number there should be somewhere on the screen that says "SAVE". Then you just click or tap, depending on your phone model and it will bring you to a screen where you fill in the info that goes with the phone number dialed that you want to save.

Also, if you receive a call you should always have the option to save that incoming phone number.

Hope this helps you! :)

I do remember my first cellphone and thought how will I ever remember all that I need to know to use properly. It becomes second nature!

Enjoy!

We just activated ours last week since it was getting close to the 60 days. We bought two of them and we love them. We are still under a 2-yr contract with our old cell phones, but our contract ends on 10/15. We plan to port our old numbers over to the new phones when the contract expires so we plan to do it on 10/16.

Can anyone tell me if I need to cancel my contract first (after 10/15, of course), or do I port the old numbers over and that automatically cancels my contract? Or do I port and then call and cancel? I've never done this before, so I don't know in which order I need to make the changes.

I asked this question on another thread but got no answer. Thought I would try again.{#emotions_dlg.blush}

LOL!!! I know what you mean. I also use a Tracfone. I have the LG800. I still don't know how to use everything on it. Doubt I ever will. Don't know how to text either. As long as I can make a phone call if my car breaks down or I lock my keys in the car etc. I'm happy.

On the opening page hit the button right under where it says menu - then highlight contacts and add a contact- after you put the number and name in - save it.

Thank you all Ladies!

I am sure someone other than I can deal with the frustration of listening to automated stuff. The phone is on its way back to QVC. Perhaps I'll get one at Radio Shack when I go to the suburbs where the sales people are more helpful.

My phone suddenly lost my contact list. It's an old one.......so I guess I can't gripe.
