Ipad 2 now at QVC

Started 1320585810.457 in Electronics Talk | Last reply 1321841031.58 by lovesrecess

I heard one of the hosts mention this morning- that the Ipad 2 is now on sale on QVC. I checked out the prices and they are HIGH! its like the basic Ipad you can buy at Apple for $499, QVC is charging $879.00 plus shipping! with 6 payments $146.50 they are selling it as a 10 piece accessory bundle, with a lot of extra stuff you dont even need like 3 different stands etc. They appear to have all 3 versions of the pad & both colors. But for the prices they are charging, you can buy 2 ipads at Apple store.

I just ran to my computer aftering hearing Dan say that and was quite disappointed. Just like with the iPod, QVC is ripping people off by putting junk items with the device that NOBODY wants or needs (and might I add mighty CHEAP junk items at that for bru-cu prices!)

Once again QVC...you never seize to amaze me anymore!

Much rather buy my Apple products at an Apple store.....they provide free classes and very attentive if you have any questions or problems.

For the price QVC is charging you can get a top of the line IPAD plus pick the accessories you want and will be much happier because you got what you want not what they think you want. You can also get accessories at Target. I have only bought a cover, sleeve and a back cover for mine and I don't find I need anything else. I got mine at the Apple store and they were great at setting it up and since I am pretty computer literate I didn't have trouble learning it. But I would suggest buying it where you can get help if you need it, you don't have to pay shipping and you get what you want as far as accessories. You can download lots of apps for the price they are charging.

I just realized the difference between the retail price of just the iPad 32GB model iteself (it's the one I want to get) and QVC's 32GB package is 430 dollars!!! They must be insane if they think those accessories cost 430 bucks...

I'm wondering why anyone would be surprised at the high price. It was the same with iPods, but still there are people who seem to want to buy these items from QVC.

I guess sucka's are born every minute then!

After you subtract the value of the Zinio gift card, the cost of the 16GB is $300 more than buying directly from Apple. They didn't even show a price comparison OR state the full retail value of the "great" accessories to show what kind of discount QVC is "giving" us. How could anyone buy something with such a high markup without knowing the value of the items that are being purchased?

I can't believe 1100 people bought that before the presentation even went off the air.

Very overpriced item. apple is selling the ipad2 with 3gb 3g for 729 plus with 6 0r 12 months financing but I cant remember if it was free financing. You dont need all that stuff either. Qvc does the same thing with there gaming systems too

People want EZ pay and are willing to spend more than an item is worth.

It is amazing the markup on this. Although you have to compare the one with the 3g from the apple website. But you can get this so much cheaper at other places.

BTW Does anyone know how much a 3g plan would cost for this. I have verion but my family is all on one bill. I would lije to have one of these eventually but not from qvc. lol

I saw it today also, and that price they have is just insanely high. It gives Apple a bad name having it priced like that. Even including all those "accessories", its still insanely priced... as it doesn't add up to anywhere near what they want, even paying full retail for the accessories.

How Dan can stand there and say with a straight face what a deal it is, is beyond me. Just more snake oil selling by the shopping channels.

That price is simply absurd. Besides, when I hear that QVC is going to be selling "the latest thing," it probably means that an iPad3 will soon be coming out.

Think about it people, QVC won't make any money off the ipad itself cause Apple won't discount it. They will however make money on the accesories...cause THOSE they can get cheaply from the company and charge QVC loyal customers who are ignorant about these things. SHAME on QVC for basically forcing people to buy accesories they chose themselves, not really giving the customer the choice. At $499 for a 16GB ipad, and QVC charging $879 dollars "with accessories"...that's $380 worth of stuff that I as a customer have NO choice in the matter, and it's just being crammed down my throat. If QVC is REALLY thinking about their customers for once and not focusing on their profit margin, especially on this holiday, they would give the people a CHOICE to get just the ipad without all the other "wonderful" items that they tag on to it. I know "C" stands for convenience, but maybe once in a while they can substitute it to be "Choice".

Somewhat OT. Has anybody received a text message on their cel saying they have been randomly selected to get, test and keep and Ipad3? I did the other day and immediately deleted it. I never text and the only ones I've ever received before were from my carrier, T-Mobile. Just a heads up.

Yes, I bought my Ipad2 at Best Buy because the price is set. I can buy an awesome warranty, if I drop it! I go in and talk to the Apple rep. Also Best Buy offers FREE classes at their store all about the Ipad2!

Yes this is why qvc should not offer products that companies wont discount. But you are comparing the wrong ipad. This is not overpriced by that much but is way overpriced. Sometimes bestbuy will even bundle accessories for like 20 dollars extra.

QVC preys on the people who think that just because it's on TV it must be a great deal. Lots of people don't want to do the research, or take the time to go to the mall to find a good deal and QVC knows that. They are laughing all the way to the bank by proclaiming to give you $400.00 in accessories that you could get for $100.00 tops. Heck a leather case is $49.00 for suede and $69.00 for leather, add a back cover for protection at $19.00 and a sleeve for another $20.00 and you are done. Why do I need earbuds when I already have several, a cigarette adaptor (I shouldn't be using it in the car anyway, plus it has a 10 hour batter life) and whatever other cheap toys they say I can't live without? Take the time and go to the Apple store either online or in person and save yourself money.

QVC doesn't prey on people. People want EZ pay and are willing to pay more than an item is worth.

ccassaday1320624058.621658 PostsRegistered 4/18/2009

No I trulely think these people think they are getting a deal. In reality if you just put the cash in an envelope for what that eassy pay is you will find that you can have enough to buy the item in 5 months instead of paying an extra 146 dollars and an extra ez pay.

People could also save by putting the items on layaway at there local Walmart & some best buy stores and have them out in time for Christmas.

I have been a very good customer of QVC for several years now, but after the IPAD pricing fiasco, they have lost my trust. I feel bad for those customers that ordered today without doing the research. Shame on you QVC.
