Are you sure you installed the free version and not the trial version. Anyway you can still try Avast or Microsoft Essentials

forrest, I think AVG has a few editions of their virus protection. I've had it for years now, & use the free one. Works great, & I've had zero problems. (MUCH better than either McAfee or Norton.)

Download "AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011".

Good luck!

AVG has a free edition. Get it at download.com.

I use AVG free and have for YEARS.

The last time I downloaded was only a couple of weeks ago; it was confusing, but the free version is still there. I downloaded from Cnet.

Cool Hi:

I have been using AVG, free version for several years with absolutely no problems. There are other free virus checkers (at least I think it's still free) such as AVAST, and there are also a wealth of free virus checkers which can be found on www.snapfiles.com. All of their programs have been checked out by snapfiles and never have I run in to any problems. Also, it is a free website for anyone. You can check out all the reviews by others who have downloaded any progam. I wonder why you have to pay for a program when it's free and also it downloads the latest virus definitions on a regular basis plus the fact you have to renew the paid programs every single year. I hope this helps.

You must have downloaded the wrong version of AVG. They do have a completely free edition. I've been using AVG for many years now and have not paid one cent to them. I am currently using the AVG Free 2011 Version 10.0.1204.

You do not have the correct version of AVG.

There is a free one and one you pay for.

Go to www.filehippo.com and download the free AVG.

Make sure you remove the paid for one first.
