Here is what I wrote Sue Clifton on Facebook.

Hi Sue. I would like to invite you to read some of the recent posts on the QVC Community Boards/Dooney Forum related to some of the problems members are having with the quality of Dooney and Bourke handbags that QVC is selling as new. It is my belief that the reputation of Dooney and Bourke handbags can be put into question, primarily with issues related to quality controls. Imagine the QVC woman buying a Dooney for the first time, only to receive a clearly used and damaged bag that is being sold as new. Many of us on the forum have pretty much reached our patience level and many are now fearful of buying any Dooney from QVC. While we understand that QVC has a very liberal return policy and that damaged or defective bags can be returned at no cost to us. A problem arises for us when we jump on the phones or go online, purchase a bag. The bag then arrives, it is either the wrong color, style or is damaged. We return the bag and discover it has sold out and is no longer available for the featured price or with the ez pay that may have been offered.
Sue, you have always been one of our favorite QVC vendors and we are seeking your (and the Dooney and Bourke Company) assistance in finding ways to assist us.

JoyJ, great letter. I feel sure she will respond. I told Jennifer at Dooney this morning how well Sue represents Dooney and that on the Dooney forum she is very respected, and she would probably be apalled that this type of thing was happening to Dooney purchasers.

When does D & B take responsibility? They're the ones making the product. QVC is the sales vehicle.

The Q needs to also take responsibility for QC.

You go girl! I feel the same way. I don't want to receive an "As Is" (returned) bag! I had given up trying to reach someone from DOONEY & BOURKE, like Sue Clifton. I will not pay $300.00 for a bag that has been used by someone else!

Joy, it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease!

Great letter, Joy. Hopefully, you will get a proper response, and, appropriate action. When paying that much money for a handbag, you expect to receive a new bag, properly protected & in perfect condition.

Qvc does have a liberal return policy, however, there is supposed to be a department who inspects these returns. If something is clearly damaged, QVC can sell it thru one of their outlet stores. When a customer spends hard earned money for what is being hailed as brand new, that is exactly the product they should receive!

Thanks again everyone for your very kind words and your support. I have a feeling that Sue probably doesn't read (or respond) to her Facebook page. Or Dooney and Bourke does not want to wake the sleeping Giant (QVC) on this issue. The only way I can speak now is through how I spend my money. I'm only one person and QVC obviously could care less if they loose my Dooney business, but at least I'll feel better.

Good luck to all of you who are buying QVC Dooneys!!! I hope QVC cleans up its act and you get perfect Dooney's. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I wish they knew their merchandise and policies....I'm lucky if I catch 1 out 4 whom I feel is giving me accurate information....besides they certainly can do a better job with that site like providing accurate measurements (at least the Q has that) and/or possibly even reviews. At this point I'd just be satisfied with better service. Back in Janurary I purchased a bag from one of their highest end leather lines (about $500) and my $ was deducted and I saw no movement in processing and shipping so I called after 5 days and they said they were busy doing inventory so they were not working on shipping! Can you believe that....I asked if my one measly bag was going to make a difference in their inventory count...all I got was a big DUH!

QVC return dept is the problem, not Dooney or Sue Clifton. I'm sure she's not happy about it either. And let's not forget the customers that have the absolute gall to return a used bag. I don't care what the policy is, carry the bag around the house to test it, not out in public. The offenders know what they like in a bag and what they don't. Some people are just taking advantage to the detriment of the rest of the QVC customers. This buying and returning is like a hobby to them. If the shoe fits, wear it.
