What causes moisturizer to roll off skin?

I have been experiencing problems with this more lately. I think it may have something to do with combining products, but have yet to figure out the combination that causes this.

What serum are you using under it and are you giving it sufficient time to dry? If there's a lot of silicone in your serum, your moisturizer will roll.

Too much silicone will cause any product to "roll.". I notice this a lot with Dr D products.

Tonight I used Aveno after shower oil. Skin still felt dry so then I used Aveno skin lotion. The lotion came right off. Maybe the oil did not sink in. Will have to look at the face products for ingredients and look for silicone when I start using them during the work week.

The oil was probably not absorbed completely. I used to also have a problem with Philosophy's WHINE Serum followed by WHINE cream. I found I had to really give it time to dry down.

I have never had this happen. I am curious. I add oils to many moisturizers (face and body) or layer them without this problem. Sounds like the silicone, then? I use natural body products (no silicones, petroleum or mineral oil although my daily facial moisturizer with spf does have a silicone in it). I am going to watch this thread to learn more. Thanks to all contributing-I am, once again, learning something new!!

I've had this happen when I used too much product- it doesn't absorb well then. Less is better sometimes!

Make sure you break down the moisturizer in your finger tips first
the heat of yor hands and the breaking down will help it sink in better
sometimes its too concentrated
also pat it in dont rub

I have this problem at times too. Mainly with M Asam's classic green.
Been using skincare since a teen. Rarely have this problem but sure is frustrating when it happens.
