How do I get rid of my blackheads around my nose??

Started 1277914323.973 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1278769116.603 by LostGirl

I use the clarisonic, I have tried the oil cleansing method I also an aspirin mask & when I look real close in the mirror I see that black gunk in my pores.

Anyone have any success with anything else??

TIA

Yes, I also use Paula's Choice BHA. I used to apply it to my nose each AM, until I began using Perricone. Now I use it as a mask each AM after cleansing. I'm now trying out Isomers new Pore Minimizer, but it is way to soon for me to give a review.

Welcome EMMOMMY. I think if you can be persistant and use it daily, you will begin to see some positive results after a few weeks. Some days, when I'm going make-up free here at home, I apply the mask a few times throughout the day.

Hi EMMOMMY,

I hope Julian is well...

I have great luck with Paula's BHA and carbon mask. Some people say the carbon mask stings and I notice a tingling feeling but to me, it does not feel bad. A very light layer overnight sometimes on trouble areas.

The paulas choice I have is clear liquid-is that the one you are talking about??

do I just put on under my makeup??or is there a different one that you can use a mask??

I need to check the expiration date because I think I have had it for awhile.

Thks Lyn

EMMOMMY - Paula offers 3 different BHA formulations and 2 strengths. I currently use the 2% Lotion as a mask, but I ordered the 2% gel during her birthday sale recently. She recommends we apply it after cleansing in the AM and prior to other treatments, moisturizers, makeup, etc.

I'm also a big fan of Paula's Choice and use many of her BHA products. I bought the Neutragena Rapid Clear that she highly recommends. I like all of those, but I really love the Neutragena and you can get it anywhere.

PTR aha/bha ( max complexion correction pads) helps wipe the gunk out every morning for me after cleansing. For me its the combination of glycolic acid and 2% salicylic acid that does it. I have been using these for a few years now and they keep the pores clean. You should notice an improvement after regular use in a couple of weeks time

Please be super careful with those strips. They can really damage your skin. Paula strongely discourages using them, but I wouldn't listen. She was so right.

Dear Lyn - I am excited to hear you are trying out the Isomer's Pore Minimizer! I would love to hear what you think of it, after you have enough time to make an assessment. Thank you!

The Biore strips can cause broken blood vessels on top of and on the sides of the nose and cheeks; it then takes lasers to deal w/that mess.

I know that Bare Escentuals products are not for everyone, but I'd highly recommend their Rare Mineral Night Treatment (RMNT). It's a little pricey but for me easily lasts twice as long as they claim it should. I had terrible black heads around my nose and chin area until I started using it.

Karena - I have used it for approx 2 weeks, and just posted my experience thus far over on the I-Forum. I am encouraged by what I see, but I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it after just 2 weeks.

I also forgot to mention that I use the generic retin a 5 times a week & I make sure I get my nose.

I have tried the Biore strips & they took a layer of skin off my nose-I am afraid of them.

all-Thks for asking about Julian that was sweet-he now has a sinus infection we are dealing with-usually Dr waits about a week before prescribing any meds but with his history we did not want to wait.

Poor thing! I just got my first sinus infection and I was in major pain. Since I was not draining or anything, I just thought it was a cavity or something cause all the pain was in my teeth and jaw.

Anyway, I hope he feels better soon. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

I think that may be the same product I use. I use the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne-Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment (longest name ever). Paula recommends this because unlike many BHA products, it has no irritants in it, is the correct PH and includes antioxidants and anti-irritants.

This is the best BHA product I have ever used. Usually BHAs irritate my skin, but this product is fantastic. It feels like a light weight serum, so it is easy to use under any moisturizer or spf product.

I haven't had even one blackhead since I started using this product.

That's the one! It is one of the best things I have ever put on my face, and I can thank Paula's Choice for it. I think she is very generous to recommend these products, considering she has her own. I use a lot of hers, but I can't be without this Neutragena.

Try this, it works.

those biore strips irritated the heck out of my nose, and Rare minerals caused flareups. You are all on the right track on the BHA. I don't use Paula's choice, but after a good general cleaning and a bit of a scrub I applied Peter Thomas Roth AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel to my nose and the area around it. Holy cow, the blackheads went away asap. I am applying a thin film of this to my nose and area around, and breakouts healing up and the blackheads disappeared in a matter of days and sa marked improvements in my pores. PTR products rock as far as I am concerned, and looking forward to trying out more. The BHA/AHA and the salicyclic acid clear out the pores. The product is oil free fragrance free and it is designed as a Pore cleaning gel predominantly. The salycylic acid is two per cent - good stuff this product!!!! I think Neutrogena and PTR are on the same track here.

Renova A has taken care of all blackheads, whiteheads, enlarged pores -- every flaw I had. Only wish I would have started using it years ago!

Hi, EMMOMMY! Ivory soap works for me! Yep, good old $1 a bar Ivory soap.

I have extremely dry and sensitive skin, but have always had a problem with blackheads on my nose -- so annoying! I tried the Clarisonic, but it made me peel like I had a severe sunburn -- and the peeling didn't stop. I sent it back. I've also tried multiple other products -- too many to list.

My sister, who has extremely oily skin, ran out of her special soap that she's been using on her face for decades (per dermatologist's recommendation.) She had Ivory and used that for about a week. She said she was amazed -- her blackheads on nose and chin just disappeared!

I told her Ivory was too harsh, but I tried it anyway -- on my nose. It works! My results weren't as quick as hers at about a week; instead, it took about 2 1/2 weeks for mine to virtually disappear. I stopped using it for several weeks and the blackheads came back, so I have gone back to using it.

Who knew?!?! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}
