Any no sulfate shampoos out there as good as WEN

Started 1277510858.36 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1281184774.153 by 10sluvr

My mom likes to lather and condition her hair. Wen weighs down her curls too much. Can anyone recommend a shampoo and conditioner that does not strip your haircolor? She already knows about Hair One and doesn't like it. Is it true that you can't have a lathering shampoo that doesn't strip hair color? This is basically what Chaz Dean says. Thanks so much ladies!

I use Retro from my hairdresser and LOVE it.

Bumping--I would like to know this as well. I have Wen on check status right now and wondering if I should go thru with it or cancel my order. On the fence.

I use the Loreal Eversoft or Everstrong line. Sulfate free, color treated safe. I've been using it since feb and it hasn't stripped my colored and highlighted hair. A gentle, slightly minty scent, and lathers well too. belle

Another vote here for Loreal .

And another for the Loreal no sulfate in the tube...I think my highlights are lasting a lot longer since I switched to it.

Loreal here too (Everpure, sulfate free line). I love the price.

Another good one to replace WEN is Pureology...but's it's expensive in my book. I used to use WEN and Pureology was a great replacement. Loreal is a great replacement for Pureology.

I haven't tried L'Oreal yet, but I have used & liked - Burt's Bees & Naked Naturals. I tried Wen (again & again) - No thanks! and it sure can run into alot of $$$$ I just did not see or feel anything fabulous nor could I justify the cost. I know others love it, but I think you have to try it for yourself & see.

Walmart has it.

The shampoo tube and the conditioner tubes are almost identical - make sure you read the label to keep them straight. There is a moisturizing one and a volumizing one.

My Walmart doesn't have a very large section devoted to it yet so you might have to look closely for it.

I tried the L'Oreal Everpure shampoo, and didn't like it. My hair just didn't feel clean.

ETA - haven't tried Wen, due to how Chaz's hair looks on air.

You can find Everpure at Rite Aides, Walgreens, grocery stores, lots of places.

My question is.....is Eversoft the same thing as Everpure, or is this something different?

I tried being patient but it took too long.

The products I was using was Everpure and I tried the voluminzing and the moisturizing formulas in both the shampoo and conditioner and they both failed miserably. I wanted nothing more but to have them work..yea, who wants to pay for shipping and Wen's higher prices BUT Wen is the only product that truly protects my hair color, so far. I still want to try Pureolgy.

Okay I can't find Eversoft. I went to Loreal's site and they have EverPure. I went to CVS site and they have EverPure. Is EverSoft a type of Ever Pure? HELP!!! I like Redken So Soft, but it gives me itchies. I'm hoping I can find something to make my hair soft like Wen Lavendar at a drugstore price.

Also saw how many brands are owned by Loreal WOW!! Pureology is owned by them!!

My favorite sulfate free shampoo compared to Wen is DevaCare Low Poo shampoo but I also love Oscar Blandi sulfate free shampoo and Ken Paves sulfate free shampoo too. Deva and Oscar can be found at Ulta and Ken Paves QVC.

I've only seen EverPure and EverStrong, both sulphate free. EverStrong is hydrating and the EverPure comes in a volumizing, smooth and regular formula. I've used the EverPure and really like it.

At first I didn't get a good lather but when I really got my hair soaking wet it lathered just like any shampoo, maybe even more so. It really keeps my color longer and felt very clean.

DJP, what about the texture of your hair? Did Everpure dry it out or weigh it down? TIA!

Purology shampoo and conditioner is good... actually more expensive than WEN. My hair looks better with WEN but purology is faster (don't have to leave it in for 5 minutes/ rinse for 5 minutes, etc.)..

Also you can get purology at ULTA and therefore you don't have to get it in UPS/mail etc...

I used Pureology for a few years, and even though it was a great improvement over sulfate shampoos, my hair was still dry, damaged and frizzy. Good hair days were rare.

I've now been using WEN for nearly a year, along with Living Proof FULL or No Frizz. My hair has never looked better. Wenhas pulled some of the curl out of my hair. So my curls are more relaxed, but my hair is in great condition and I don't have bad hair days anymore. No Frizz either. I still can't believe this is my hair. It's so worth having more relaxed curls.

I would suggest that your mother try other formulas of Wen.... They might not all weigh her curls down.

I'm loving L'Oreal EverPure Moisturizing on my dry, frizzy, color treated hair. It's in the pink tube. Can't use Wen or conditioner as a shampoo as I have an oily scalp and it gets greasy and itchy, but the EverPure is doing the job.

OVER 60: SKIN - menopausal, dry, not sensitive, few eye wrinkles, mouth to chin (puppet) lines.
HAIR - dry, dyed, curly, frizzy shoulderr length/NOW STRAIGHTENED
