Hair Texturizer for short hair.....paste or cream......

Started 1273693010.607 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1273776931.213 by SherbearTwo

Can anyone suggest a really good product for short layered hair that gives texture, volume and hold?

I thought I have tried just about everything, but have yet to find my HG.  Doesn't matter if it's drugstore or higher end, I would love to find something that gives me the look and hold that I want for my short hair.

Would love suggestions!

Callista Embellish does work, but it has a very strong scent that never goes away.  It smells like a really strong underarm type deordorant to me.  Not at all pleasant.

I have short piece-y hair and use Paul Mitchell's original dry wax that comes in the small tub, not the spray wax.  It's kinda pricey at $14 but worth it.  I ran out once and bought some drugstore stuff instead, hoping to save money, but it did not give the same result.  Also, a little goes a long way and the tub will last forever.  HTH {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I LOVE the Paul Mitchell Dry Wax!  I have tried everything and always go back to this.  I like that it gives some hold too!

Paul Mitchell Dry Wax or Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Sculpting Cream

If your hair is on the dry side or you dont like the product feel the Tea Tree is better

Both can be found at Supercuts or a beauty Supply store for around $14 but last a very long time.

As well Paul Mitchell shampoos and conditioners in the large 33 oz size can be found at Supercuts for $28 for both.

I have medium-length hair that is layered and when I want a piecey look I use a product called Goldwell Supervisor Clay Modeling Paste.  It is a texturizing paste and it adds body and shine, too. My stylist uses it on short hair and also uses it to tame flyaways.

It is sold only in salons and is around $10 for 1.75 oz.

i have short, choppy, piecey hair...i love Garnier Fructis Style Shake Effect Liquid Gel for
"extreme texture" in extra strong.  It comes in this cute round bottle and looks like a clear gel but when you shake it and squirt it into your hand it turns into this thick white paste and really works well!!!  I put it in after I dry my hair...squirt into my hands rub them together and mess away!!  I buy mine at Wal-Mart..i've tried alot of stuff and this inexpensive one is the best in my opinion!!  no more spending a ton of money on hair paste,etc..for me{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I have really thin, fine blonde hair and keep my hair short with some layers.

I love Pureology Nano Wax. I use only a bit and rub my fingers together well before applying to my hair. Works great for me to help get some volume and a piecy look.

I like Tri's Shape and Shine.  I have thick hair and this is one product that doesn't make my hair even thicker.

Nick Chavez Soft Flocker Paste-like product. This smells great and doesn't weigh my hair down.

jacnit: I tried finding this today at Wal-Mart and Target but struck out.  I wonder if it's discontinued?

Tigi Bedhead's Hard to Get or

Artec's D:fi D:struct http://www.beautydeals.net/shop/details.html?id=1271

Either of these are available at salons or Ulta.  Be sure to use a mega hold spray to keep everything in place afterwards.  I like Salon Grafix (CVS, drugstores).
