Beauty Banter

Former QVC host

I must say I have really been enjoying Suzanne Runyan over on HSN (I liked her on QVC too, and just another example of QVC's poor judgement in letting quality hosts go).

This hour she's been doing a beauty show, and it is really a refreshing change from the usual circus that goes on during the QVC beauty shows as of late.

She actually lets the vendors talk about their products for much of the presentation.  What a novel idea!!!

I like her better now than when she was on QVC.  Maybe I am just more use to her now.

She does a great job of explaining and demonstrating items.  So well that she sold me a TV last year.  It turned out to be a great deal and an awsome TV.

Funny I was about to say the very same !  I would never watch her, she seemed to be so loud !

For some reason I think she is great on HSN , she found her home Wink

I saw her at a trade show in NYC, working a booth several months after she left QVC.  She was very friendly and wouldn't stop talking!  She was demoing those blow pens that used to be on QVC.  She mentioned that HSN was courting her to relaunch their scrapbook category.  That was what she was originally brought in for, then obviously the feedback was good and they put her on as a regular, multi-faceted host.

I really like her...and she looks so much more "glam" then she did on QVC.

A lot of the sales techniques that you see on QVC are what the hosts are trained to do. Just like at trade shows you have to have a gift of gab. I think that QVC has taken it to an all time obnoxious level for television. Why bother with a vendor? Just have your trained sales person stand there and yak for 15 minutes straight. Obnoxious.

When Suzanne left QVC she said she was becoming a spokesperson for a scrap booking company.  She said she'd miss QVC but scrap booking was her passion. She started at HSN as their scrap book expert.  Eventually she became a full time host just like the lady Allison, who use to represent Harry London.  They've really glammed up Suzanne since she's been on HSN.  She's so slim and has a great haircut.  On QVC she presented herself has the average women. ( slightly overweight and not at all glamorous) Her son must be pretty old now, but I never see her wear a wedding ring or mention her husband.

Here is a little bio blurb from HSN ( the photo of her is great as well).

ETA: No mention of the hubby. (or Q)

Suzanne Runyan misses the fall season in her hometown of Delaware, Ohio, but is doing fine without the snow. She is happy to call St. Petersburg, Fla., home. Prior to becoming an HSN show host, Suzanne worked as an NCAA sports host and producer, was an award-winning PBS producer, and owned her own video production company. She also hosted a morning radio show and covered auto racing, including NASCAR, on television. Suzanne loves being a show host and couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Suzanne enjoys crafting and scrapbooking in her spare time and has traveled to South Africa twice to teach scrapbooking. Suzanne loves to spend time with her talkative and humorous son, Ethan.

When was she a QVC host?  I've only been an addicted watcher for about 6 or 7 years now...

It's been at least 7 years.  Her son was born while she was at QVC.

I see that another former QVC host, Judy Crowell debuted a fashion line on ShopNBC yesterday. It was good to see her as well.

Indeed it was. Although I didn't need anything she was selling yesterday, I always thought Judy was the classiest dressier that ever worked the Q (when she was wearing her own clothes, of course.) Cool

Suzanne was always one of my favorite hosts on QVC, while Judy was one of my least favorites.

I never cared for her on Q and pretty much the same where she is now.  She can talk so fast that even one vendor said to her one time, "do you know what you just said".

I will say I think she has refined herself to a certain degree where she is now.  She is good with the scrapbook items, other items I can mostly leave rather than take her.

I agree -- Judy always looked so stylish and well-groomed.  Miss her on Q.  Haven't seen her on the other channel.

Same here.  But at the end of her run, you could see that Suzanne was not happy.  I knew when Suzanne left, it was the beginning of the end for the craft shows on the Q.  I loved the craft shows.

Judy just irritated me to no end.

She is pretty for sure.  She looks great.  At times she talks too much and her bray laughter is hard to take at times but she is a good host and informative if she likes the product.  She can sell Technibond very well and enjoys selling by what I see.
