Iman Wigs

Does anyone own an Iman wig? If so, what is the quality like? They were just selling them on HSN and they all sold out. There are no reviews. They did promote buying a curling or straight iron and her shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray.

I bought a long, wavy one last time she was on and did not like it. It did not look as presented and the color/highlights were funny looking. It also did not fit well. I sent it back.

Wish it, dream it. dare it, do it!

I have the bob. Love it! Daughter approved. Cool My husband thought I'd cut my hair and didn't talk to me all day....that night I took it off in front of him...his face was classic!! haha Lots of complements when I wear. Nice quality. I had slight bangs cut in mine. Ordered the shag and returned, bleck! Reviews on the long curly not good.....fake looking. (review gone ...humm) I ordered the straight long to try...had coupon for free ship. If nice great if not back it goes. Some may pop back in as others decide what did i do? haha Like how they did the roots.

I ordered the shag in the auburn.Think I will cancel. Am afraid it will be too red. Thanks for the comments. I think the bob would look good with a slight bang. The side piece kept falling in Amy's eye, but it did look cute on her.

I ordered two. Hopefully, at least one will be really cute. My hair is almost like the long straight one only not quite so long. I ordered the bob and the short one. Unfortunately, they did not have my real haircolor. My hair is between the classic light blonde and the highlighted brown. I would say it is honey blonde. I may not like it so light even if the wig itself looks good. Can't wait to try them.

I ordered the long one then, about 15 min. later, ended up canceling it. I have 3 from wigs.com (Raquel Welch ones) and they were a lot less $$$ and look really good. What prompted me to cancel was, when I went to read the reviews, there weren't any. This was despite Amy saying how everyone loved them and they sold out the last time they were on in Dec. So, why were all the reviews deleted? Made me stop and think.....

Why do you bother reading these boards when all you do is give nasty responses no matter what the thread is?

I got and returned one(long straight one) last time. Things they don't tell you: You can't try it on. There is a bulky cardboard liner attached with plastic tags. Remove that so you can actually put it on, and you bought it! The mesh monofilament where the hair is rooted is black, not nude or clear, so it doesn't look very natural where it's parted. The colors are not geared toward caucasian hair colors, they all have a black tone to the colors. Not trying to stir anything up, anyone could wear them, but you have to have certain skin-tones for them to look natural. The quality of the hair and mesh seem good, but the cap appeared on the small side, so larger-headed women, watch out.

I thought Amy said you can try it on and wear it for a month and then return it if you decide you don't like it? I'm glad I canceled! I thought the colors were off too. The blonde wigs Amy wore looked different than the ones on the stands. The color was nicer and it didn't have the orange tones in it like the blonde ones on the stands. Also, the part area on the stands were orangey, at least on the blonde ones.

Always possible they changed that liner since the last time they aired. Who is willing to throw away that kind of money if they can't put it on? I complained to CS, they were incredulous and weren't aware of this little factoid. She told me go ahead and remove it and try it, but frankly, with the printed enclosed warning about not removing the liner, I decided not to risk it. Back it went.

I cancelled because there weren't any reviews. I ordered the short one and it never made it to a presentation. I didn't like it on Amy but thought it might look better if you played with it. Reviews always help me decide on a purchase. Maybe next time. If they all sell out, I guess there won't be any reviews...oh well. Thanks for all the input.

If they sold out and this is a new batch, then the item numbers may have changed, hence no reviews. I have seen this happen in the past.

She didn't have my hair color medium blonde highlights mixed with dark brown, I didn't see it as an option to order.

None of her colors offered would have worked for me.

If any of that is still the case, mine will go right back. I noticed the orangey look at the roots of the blonde but didn't think it looked that way on the host. I'll let you know.

I just checked and there are still 3 styles left. Hopefully some reviews will be posted at the end of the week. Does anyone think her prices are too high?

Yes, I think her prices are too high. Go to wigs.com and check it out. I like the Raquel Welch ones. I paid around $135 for mine and they have sales and discounts many times.

Thanks, rkm. I have seem some of the RW wigs online and liked a couple of the styles. Can you go to a beauty supply store and buy shampoo for wigs?

rkm20071342963845.16694 PostsRegistered 10/24/2007

I had used a gentle shampoo and conditioner on my wigs and then bought Toni Bratten's set when she came out with it on HSN. You really don't need a special shampoo for wigs as long as it's mild. If you go to Sally's, there are several available. Harmon also has it (see pic below).

Tres Wig Texturizing 8ozRevlon Texturizing Cleanser removes dulling film, oils and salts to freshen synthetic hair. Add small amount to basin of cool water. Immerse style and soak for a few minutes. Agitate gently. Rinse in cool water. Follow with conditioner. Never brush curly styles.

I saw a woman with a wig on the other day. It was so obvious, I would never buy one. I would be too self concious.

My neighbor has a few wigs.... Expensive human hair. They look good on her. Her own hair is terrible, and the wigs make it possible for her to go out of the house without fuss, and know she looks good. They are warm, though, which is the only thing she doesn't like abort them.

Thanks so much for the heads-up on these wigs! I ordered the "bob", the products and curling iron, but cancelled immediately upon reading here that I might be stuck with the wig it if it didn't work out!! My hair is short and I've worn the same style for years and really want to change my "look" a BIT (not drastic!). I work in a professional environment and have a "serious" job and want to be age appropriate!!

Anyone who's worn a wig, would you please tell me if it's too heavy (very hot here in summer)? hard to "fit," hard to "maintain" hard to "style", looks "fake?" I'd be willing to spend whatever it took to achieve the "look" I'm seeking!! Thanks a million!!
