Does any topcoat really keep your nail polish on?

I have natural active length nails. I love a french manicure, I was using the wonderful Incoco strips in White Cloud, they would look great for 2 weeks, sometimes more. They're no longer sold locally, and just too expensive on line!

I can do a good french manicure free-hand, but no matter what topcoat I use, the white begins chipping after 2 or 3 days. Have you found a topcoat that really works? If there's a polish you love, I'm not opposed to using color as long as it looks good for more than 3 days!

I have gel nails now but I think Seche Vite is a really great top coat.

Sadly, it seems no matter what polish I use, it chips. High, medium, or cheap priced does not matter. I do use Seche vite topcoat, but only to make my polish dry fast and for shine, not to make it last.

I rarely wear polish but will pass along a tip I read. The tip is to apply a fresh layer of top coat everyday.

I used Orly Bonder for the first time. I painted my nails on a Thursday night and started to get wear on the tips the following Friday. I had one nail peel that night and had a manicure on Sat Morning. When I told the manicurists about it she said it looked good and used Bonder on my manicure. I'll use a top coat in a couple days and we'll monitor the results.

I use Nailtiques 2 as a basecoat and then apply it daily as a topcoat and it keeps my nails chip free.

If I applied a topcoat everyday, in 2 days I'd have 6 layers on my nail. (base, 2 color, top done at the salon plus 2 more topcoats) Everything would peel right off.

If you have natural nails and wear a French manicure, the tip will show wear within days.

I am in love with the system from Revlon Colorstay, use their base, their top and their color, lasts up to 2 weeks.

Seche Vitae Glossy Top Coat.... once I found it won't use any other. Extends my manicure for sure. Nothing will stop the white of a hand painted french tip on natural nails from chipping after about 10 days...but mine are not very bad after two weeks. I am told that if you have the french tip airbrushed on, by a manicurist, it will last like fake nails! Never tried it, but would like to. I think the air brush uses real paint!

Essie. But it could just be that white polish that does that. When I use regular polish, I have no problem.

Deborah Lipman's Addicted to Speed is the only thing that works for me as a topcoat with 2 very active little boys 13 months and 5yr old. They don't sell it near me and its $20 a bottle with free shipping through HSN. But a decent topcoat right after doing my nails & a little touch up of that every few days and I can stretch redoing my nails to every 10-14 days. Plus it dries quickly so its well worth the price. The trick is to not go overboard with those touch ups or apply it too thick when you do them or as Blossomgirl mentioned you'll be able to peel all the layers off at once.

I have been using it for years and swear by it it keeps my nails beautiful for 2 1/2 weeks

Decided to change up my SN a bit, and maybe this is a bit clearer :)

Wow 2 1/2 weeks. {#emotions_dlg.tt1} That definitely sounds worth a try. What company makes that topcoat?

OTD is made by INM. (International Nail Manufacturers) I like it but could never go more than 2 weeks without a polish change as the growth line at the base of my nail is very visible within 10 days.

I get "Out the Door" at Sally's Beauty Supply. Not only does it dry your nail polish quickly but it also makes my polish last and last. But..... I had to return a couple of bottles because when it dried my nailpolish looked cloudy. ???

Right now I am wearing Sinful Colors in Cream Pink (2/$3.00 at Walgreens) nailpolish with the Out the Door topcoat. I love it. I found the color on this forum. I was surprised how much I loved the polish. It went on nicely and 2 coats did the job. What a bargain!

I have always worn my nails a little longer and liked the darker colors but I noticed a lot of the hosts had shorter nails with a bright color. I copied their look and I really like it.

See? You can teach an old dog new tricks! Wink

I too wear Out the Door Top Coat. I am in water aerobics three times a week, so I do a manicure every 7-8 days. Have tried other top coats, but nothing works as well as OTD. I purchase it at Sally's Beauty Supply.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I haven't found one, and have tried many! Of course, a gel manicure didn't even last more than a week on me. I guess I have problem nails!

My polish lasts 20 days using 2 base coats of Manicure Keeper by Orly (rubberized basecoat) sold here plus a coat of Seche Vite (available at amazon or Target) couple times a week.
