I heard of this in the 80's when Brooke Shields said she did it. I tried it for about two months and the only thing it did for me was make my eyes puffy from the Vaseline going into them.

Plus my vision was blurry from the Vaseline going into my eyes.

A lot of my friends tried this too and got the same results. Puffy eyes and blurred vision.

Vaseline is Petroleum Jelly. Why would anyone think to put that near their eyes?

And no, it didn't make anyone's eyelashes stronger, longer or help them grow.

I cannot use anything like Vaseline (or oils) around my eyes as it irritates them and, like oneanddone said, it caused my eyes to be blurry because it would get into my eyes. I can't imagine what in it could help lashes to grow and, in fact, I would think it could clog ducts or create other issues since it is such a heavy substance.

I use vaseline around my eyes and on my eyelashes at night. It keeps them in good condition. I also have dry eye syndrome , so I have to put ointment in my eyes everynight too--which is petroleum and mineral oil. So I guess I get a double whammy of softness LOL

Never used the vaseline to grow lashes, but an aunt used it for years and had no wrinkles around her eyes when she died at 78. I have been using castor oil on brows and lashes for about three months to grow them and it is working for me. Brows that were gone past arch are coming back and lashes are longer and darker too. But I use it last thing before bed because it does blur vision,, etc.

Never heard of that (can't imagine it being true) but we used to put vaseline on our eyelashes when we were kids (before our parents allowed mascara).

Vaseline is a good product. I used it on my chapped lips...until I found out they test on animals. I never bought it again.

I don't believe in the concept of h*ll, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

dharma, If you're doubting about my aunt, that's ok. But it is true. She used vaseline since she was a girl and faithfully every night. She stayed out of the sun and wore sunglasses and hats. She was a career lady who took very good care of herself. She liked makeup and used vaseline around her eyes. I only wish I had taken her advice. Sorry you don't believe me. I will not tell lies and I will not post lies.

I used to use Vaseline to remove my makeup (late 80s), then realized I was getting little bumps around my eyelids/lower eye area. Found out it was milia most likely caused by the V (said the dermatologis). I haven't used it since and haven't had any issues. Vaseline also made my eyes blurry too.

My daughters have used Vaseline to remove eye make-up for Manu years. It hasn't made their lashes longer, but they are pretty and very healthy.

I used Serious skin care eyetality night for a while and it made a difference on my lashes (it's an eye creme that you also rub on your lashes) but i didnt think it was doing anything for my eye (skin) area, so I switched eye creams and now i am just rubbing my regular eye cream on my lashes. I cant say if it works yet because I switched like a week ago but the SSC did work on lashes. I was thinking maybe any old eye cream would work.

My SIL's MIL (there's a mouthful) used Vaseline as her night moisturizer and she had the most gorgeous skin I'd ever seen. I've used Vaseline around my eyes at night with no problems.

One of my best friends throughout my middle and high school years had the most amazing lashes, and she told me that she applied vaseline on them nightly. I've never tried it, but she swore by it.

I believe it. There was a famous singer on a show recently and someone from the audience commented on how pretty her skin was and asked what she uses? She said vaseline!

OMG - there is no way vaseline is going anywhere near my face! Especially around my eyes.

Let me know if you suddenly become interesting.

I would be afraid the mascara would not adhere to the lashes the next day. I do remember hearing about people using Vaseline on their eye lashes 1/2 century ago. I am trying to think of who the actress is who does use Vaseline nightly on her skin. She looks wonderful too.

Wanna cringe?!?!? when I was a teeager, had dry skin AND eczema. my mother wasn't the "girlie" type and never discussed skin care etc. I used to put Vaseline on a spoon, hold it on a burner on the stove to melt it, and smear it on my face because my face was so dry it was falling off my head!!! just to let you know......today I look like Yoda!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (kind of funny)

Well, this brings back memories! My mom wouldn't let me wear mascara back in 6th grade, so I used Vaseline on my lashes to try and replicate the look. I remember some kid asking me why my eye lashes looked greasy! Thanks for the memory!!

I use Vaseline on my eyes every single day and have for years to remove makeup and moisturizer really dry skin. It is an excellent ingredient hat has been proven to help heal skin, although it does not grow lashes. Some that do not know better, usually those on the "natural is better band wagon", believe the myths about Vaseline being bad for you or your skin, but all the science shows the opposite to be true.

I've never used vaseline but I use jojoba to remove waterproof mascara and have good results with that. It conditions the lashes and its anti microbial. It made my lashes thicker and slightly longer.

Vaseline won't grow eyelashes. And why would they still test on animals? It's been around for a hundred years and the formula hasn't changed. So I see no reason for testing, how do you know this ?

No it is has petro in it.......really smell it and see if you don't recognize the gasoline smell. I was so into vaseline....until I saw all of the chemiclas. I am happy it works for others as far as a skin care but you would have had nice skin anyway.
