I Need a Mascara That Won't Un-Curl My Lashes! Any Suggestions?

Started 1318016312.61 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1318185354.75 by kitkatry924
I have decent looking lashes if I curl them, but lately I can't find a volumizing mascara that won't UN-CURL my lashes. I used and loved Loreal Voluminous for many years until they changed their formula a while back and I can't use it anymore because now it smudges on me halfway through the day. I like dark, thick lashes that maintain the curl I get from my eyelash curler. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I love Maybelline One by One waterproof. I always curl my lashes before I apply my mascara and I haven't a problem. And I am VERY picky about having visible lashes.

I have the same problem and the only mascara that let me keep the curl was Revlom's ColorStay Overtime Las Tint which unfortunately fo rme has been discontinued. Hopefully someone knows of a mascara that does keep the curl.

I often look at pictures of women to study their eyelashes and while many are mascaraed, a lot of them droop and I'm sure that at some point the women started out using an eyelash curler then lost the curl once the mascara was applied. There are so many mascaras that lengthen or volumize; if I could choose between those and a curlkeeper mascara I'd chose the curlkeeper everytime and obviously there are others like the OP in a similar situation.

I have heard rave reviews on Urban Decay's Curling Mascara.

I have two friends that swear by waterproof mascara. One I see all the time and I am always amazed at her lashes looking curled and freshly made up. I can't believe she uses Maybelline waterproof mascara in the fat pink tube! I didn't like that brand due to flaking. I used to love one called Lash Out (forgot the brand) but I don't see it anymore.

OceanMst - I've ONLY ever worn waterproof (and always Maybelline), maybe that's why I've never had a problem. Hmmh ... interesting.

I had the same problem as you until I switched to waterproof mascara. It made all the difference. I don't know if it's an age thing or not because I never used to have that problem but now I do. I use and love the Loreal mascaras and also use Mabelline Lash Stiletto for length. Give it a try. It's an easy and inexpensive fix. Let us know, ok?

It's as if cosmetic companies are adding water to their mascara products and the water takes the curl out. The waterproof mascaras seem to form a barrier around the lashes which helps hold the lashes up. I would wear waterproof every day if it wasn't such a pain to take off and then clean up the oil around my eyes left by the remover.

Kittymama ~~ Go to Sally's Beauty. Check out Claudia Stevens Lash Fix Curling Mascara...extremely cheap. I'm going to give it a try.

I have the same problem and I have found any Maybelline waterproof works the best for me. I have tried highend waterproof brands but Maybelline seems to work the best. Right now I am using the Voluminous in the yellow tube and doing a great job.

Maybelline pulse perfection was my HG after looking forever for one to hold my curl. It has been discontinued, but I have a big stash. I like Loreal voluminous in waterproof pretty well. The maybelline was waterproof, as well.

I use BE and Mally mascara and I've never had smudgng or uncurling. I don't like waterproof because I don't feel like I get the fullness.

Let me know if you suddenly become interesting.

I swear by Maybelline waterproof mascara. It stays, but it doesn't keep my eyelashes stay curled. I curl them, but it doesn't last!

BE Curling and Volumizing Mascara is my new favorite because it keeps the curl all day. Benefit They're Real Mascara is also very good, but hard to remove at the end of the day.

I seem to have the same problem and the ones that I've found that work best are Maybellin XXL curling, Maybelline one by one volume, and Rimmel London max curves (I think that's the name, it's in a bright green tube) Look for mascaras that say something about curling and it should help hold the curl.

I bought a introductory pack of ANASTASIA curling mascara, Beverly Hills, at Sephora last week. It was 9.00 for a small mascara and a tube of brow fixative. I really, really like it. I think I will order it in regular size. I buy Sisley volume mascara which is so expensive I am emabarresed to tell you how much. Sisley mascara curls, darkens, lengthens and doesn't flake and I tried everything. It also conditions the lashes. Anastasia's seems to do this as well for 19$. I copied a link to the mini trial size.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I will check them out and hopefully one will do the trick. Good to know I'm not the only one with this problem.

hello kittymama!

i have had lots of trouble keeping my lashes curled all day as the mascara would weigh them down and straighten out the curl. the only mascara i can use is tarte lights!camera!lashes! and the waterproof version lights!camera!splashes! you can get a travel size duo of the two at ulta for $15 to try. i also apply to the tips first, give it a minute to set, then go a little deeper. i cannot go to the lashline on top, b/c too heavy straightens it out. but i get a VERY full and curled lash look...almost like false lashes! when i am someplace really important, i use the waterproof...it TOTALLY holds the lashes all day/night...but i don't want to use it everyday as i've read waterproof is more harsh on your lashes. give them a chance and see what you think! linda

my lashes don't like to stay curled either but i absolutely hate waterproof mascara because it is sooo hard for me to get off.

even when i use special eye makeup remover, my lashes seem to fall out because i have to work to get the mascara off.

Shiseido mascara primer. As long as I use this primer I can use whatever mascara I have around (for me the usually means covergirl lashblast) and my lashes hold the curl all day. Haven't found anything else that works as well. I never use waterproof mascara.

Tarte's Lights Camera Splashes is amazing! I am Asian so I have very straight lashes, and it's really hard to find a mascara that'll hold a curl. I have tried Mally's waterproof volumnizing mascara; I did like it, but i found that Mally's was a little clumpy, sometimes the curls would fall if it was really humid. Tarte holds my curls all day, and once it's set, it doesn't budge. I usually curl my lashes first, dapply one coat, wait a couple of minutes while I do the rest of my makeup, curl my lashes one more time, then apply one more coat to the top lashes, and they'll stay that way til I wash them off. It separated my lashes well, and it's all natural-no paraben and chemicals {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}. It's a little pricy, but it's definitely worth it IMO.
