Fracas Perfume, just wanted to share

Started 1311906589.283 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1313048300.4 by Lindsays Grandma

I loved this perfume years ago, and I finally decided to stop thinking about it and get it. I ordered it from Sephora, and can't wait to get it!

I've worn Fracas for years - definitely a winter scent for me. I love the body lotion! I tend to like the classics - Chanel No 5, Shalimar & Fracas - but I also love Pure Grace.

For the poster who asked, it is Gardenia.

Fracas was created by a master perfumer, the most famous of the 20th century, but I forget his name. It's hard to describe the scent, but here is what it's supposed to be:

Tuberose, Jasmine, Jonquil, Gardenia, Lily of the Valley, White Iris, Orange, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Musk

I believe the designer was Robert Piguet and Fracas first came out in 1948. I have never smelled the original but I've had a sample of the dupe by PSS. Very heady and potent in a use sparingly kind of way. I keep meaning to order it someday!

MrsS, I'm always worried about these dupe formulations. I just wonder if they get it exactly right. I'll know when I get it, if it lacks life, so to speak.

But I so agree with you about use sparingly! This is a heady scent.

Well if you ordered it from Sephora you are getting the real deal and not a dupe. Or at least the 1998 reissue I presume. Some dupes are right on to me when I've been able to compare and some not. Then there are some I've never smelled the original and I either just like it or don't, lol! I hope you love it!

Oh thank you, Kindlereader! I am SO looking forward to getting it. I'm going to Mexico, and will wear this on my wrists (and probably insect repellant on my shoes). {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I'm so glad people like the scent still.

Thanks, MrsSweetB, I did order from Sephora, and I'm glad about the feedback I'm getting here.

Stuyvesant, have a wonderful time in Mexico! Good idea on the insect repellant :) Just my opinion but I think Fracas is a classic and will never go out of style...

I got a sample of it in high school and loved it. Years later I bought a bottle and it didn't disapoint. It's definitely my heaviest fragrance but it is lovely. It's funny, because I never wear florals, but I like this one.

Well I got my Fracas and it didn't disappoint. It's as wonderful as I remember, and how often do we get to say that?

I tried it some years back and thought it was very, very pretty.

The odd thing about me and fragrances is that I find very few "distinctive" or memorable I guess I should say. Fracas is one that stood out and that I would be able to tell apart from others.

So many fragrances to me are all kind of the same. They may be pretty, I may find them pleasant, but I won't be able to remember them, or really distinquish them from a lot of others.

Maybe it's just my sense of smell that's to blame.

I have this as well. Men always notice it.

I used to wear Fracas (the original). Lovely scent. I can still smell it "mentally".

I also loved Nettie Rubenstein's Odalisque. One time as we were getting ready to go somewhere and I spritzed some on my wrists, my younger sister asked me, "What perfume is that?"

I responded, "Odalisque," and she said "Ha ha. Real funny. Eau der less!" {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I hope the Fracas perfume you ordered is as delightful as the one you remember!

Love Fracas. I wore it years ago and got many compliments, especially from men. I keep promising myself I will buy a bottle and now I think it is time to keep my promise.
