Tame creme rinse!

Started 1311290388.967 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1311634346.437 by I Teach Too

I was using a conditioner the other day, after shampooing and wondering just how much conditioning was accomplished since it's rinsed almost immediately. Made me remember the "creme rinse".

Anyone else? Other old product memories welcome!

I've never used the brand Tame, but I believe that the local Dollar Tree had Tame including the "creme rinse," too :)

Over 40. Combo/sensitive skin. Tendency to get eczema.

I REALLY remember Tame Creme Rinse! LOL. When I was a little girl I hated my Mom trying to detangle my very thick, curly mop after she shampooed me. One day she had Tame, poured a capful in a cup with some water and poured it over my hair. Can't remember if it needed to be rinsed out..thinking no. Boy, sure helped me.:) I remember Breck Shampoo too. Be a Breck Girl, LOL

Yes, I remember Tame!

How about Prell shampoo when they dropped a white pearl down the bottle (the original ones I think were glass) to show how thick the formula was.

Does anyone remember the cream style shampoos? My mother used this and scooped it out of the jar. I don't remember the name though.

Ha! Good times!

Yes, Bella-luna I do remember kissing potion. It was very goopy and I think it also came in soft drink flavors.

I liked the Fabergé shampoo with the honeycomb pattern on the bottle. I think Farrah Fawcett used to do their commericals. also, I like Flex shampoo, but I think you can still buy that in select places.

If I remember right anyway, tell me if I'm wrong...

{#emotions_dlg.wub}Ahhh memories. I remember Tame, Breck, Prell, all of it. My Mom used to wash and condition my long blonde hair and then roll it up on pink sponge rollers.

She also used to give herself (and me occasionally) a home permanent with Toni.

She always had OJ's Lotion, a toner I think, and a round box of Max Factor Loose Powder.

Yep! Dippity doo, tame, and breck. They were my initiation into the wonderful world of cosmetics when I was a young girl.

I know too much to go back an' pretend.

Yes! Fabrege Organics Shampoo! "...and they'll 2 friends and so, and so on..." I know Heather Locklear did the commercial, not sure about the beautiful Farrah! I remember Farrah doing a Noxema shaving cream commercial!

Ohh, those Toni home perms! My mother was obsessed with the idea that my stick, straight hair should be curly. I can still remember the smell!

I was young, but I remember them being on styrofoam head forms and I asked who they were one day. So, she had to make something up.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

We alternated between Flex and Breck, and we used Tame cream rinse; this was back in the days of printed wallpaper in the bathroom that looked like tin foil with a pattern on it. My grandparents had a bathroom that had a toilet, sink and tub that were all aqua/robbin's egg blue with blue toilet paper. The downstairs bathroom had a shower stall in the bathroom that was HUGE- it looked like something from a locker room; my husband's dad was in the navy during the Korean war, and his family was the first on the block to get a shower in their house (and it was expected that it would be a "navy shower"- get wet, turn off the water, soap up, turn the water on to rinse.)

Sigh {#emotions_dlg.unsure} I remember all those. Also the original herbal essence shampoo. What a nice smell, and the green color of it was so pretty.

And the funny thing is, our hair looked good back then even without WEN.

jpie, I think the cream shampoo was called Lustre Cream. There was also another one by Helene Curtis called Nutra Tonic. They were wonderful shampoos as I remember using them. I wish they would be brought back.

For those who are interested Walmart sells Prell for under three dollars.

I used Tame for years back in the 70's and possibly early 80's.
They no longer make it, as I have tried to find it on the internet. I am surprised s
omeone actually found some old bottles at a Dollar Tree. I have curly hair and it was the only thing that helped keep the freezies away in the summertime. Wish they would bring it back. I now use Fructus extra conditioner and leave it in after a quick rinse and that seems to do the trick!

Also remember the Tame creme rinse, and the Prell with the pearl. Someone else mentioned the blue toilet paper, and I remember that we used to use pink or blut tp. Also remember my Grandma using Cashmere Bouquet bar soap. And Ponds cold cream. Ahhh...thanks for the memories!

Sassy Pants(fun nic BTW), yes, that was it, Luster Cream. It was good. I don't think we had the one by Helene Curtis. Thank you for remembering that, I wanted to call it Luxe, but that was an inexpensive bar soap
