Women's deodorant without aluminum, that works all day?

Started 1311283208.01 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1311294243.71 by ellaphant

Hi ladies. I wanted to see if anyone uses women's deodorant without aluminum, that last all day? If so, what is it and does it smell good? I was just recently told that aluminum is not good and may cause cancer, but almost all women's deodorant has it. Any suggestions? Thank You.

My husband and I have both been using the Crystal deodorant rocks for about a year now. We've had absolutely no underarm odor whatsoever. I'm menopausal, and my hormonal disruptions were causing me to need to use my deodorant several times a day.

My husband was hesitant to try it, but now he is a believer as well. It works for him even after he has finished his 1 hour jog on the treadmill.

You want to make sure that the ones you buy are strictly made without added ingredients. Some brands add other chemicals. This is the one that we use: http://www.puritan.com/hand-body-care-555/crystal-body-rock-deodorant-074889?NewPage=1

I use the Crystal brand roll on. I love it and I no longer have the dreaded stinky one arm thing going on, and I haven't had a problem with staining either.

It does take a bit to dry, but I never have had a problem with it marking my clothing. I found mine on the bottom shelf at my local walgreens.

I have had good results with Tom's of Maine (which is available at Whole Foods as well as Drugstore.com).

Another vote for the Crystal deodorant.

Isomers Deodry is aluminum free (I believe) is very effective and can be used by men or women as it has no powerful scent. Best of all, it never stains your clothing.

ETA: Sorry. I forgot. It's alcohol free not aluminum free.

Deodry gets a lot of great buzz on this forum. I have never taken the isomers plunge but have put it into my 'someday' list.

Hi ChristianGirl,

My daughter is allergic to metal (in so many aspects-jewelry, hair pins, had to have ceramic/titanium braces, etc.) so, regular antiperspirants/deodorants give her severe hives the size of dinner plates!! Both of us have had good luck with Tom's Apricot and the Unscented 24 Hour one. We are currently using and loving DeoDry from The Body Shop...I have the pink one and my daughter has the blue one (the scent names are worn off and the names escape me, sorry)! These work really well...no "stinky." Please remember that when it is hot...you will feel wetness...and that will take some getting used to but, definitely no odor.

There have also been some threads on here about using Apple Cider Vinegar applied with a cotton ball...you may want to search that out to see how successful it was for the ladies who tried it.

Good luck on your search!

All the best, Neela

I used Crystal roll on last summer and this winter and loved it. Then, late winter, early spring I developed large red whelps under both arms. I continued to use the Crystal because it is natural and I thought it could not possibly be the problem; however, after a doctor visit I was told it was a skin reaction and to discontinue using the Crystal. I did and after several days the red, itchy whelps went away. Now, I am afraid to use it ever again so I went back to Dove. Even though it is a natural product, I guess some of us can still have allergy problems.

I use the crystal rock too. I also wash my underarms with a natural deodorant soap - Tom's of Maine - and I am odor-free even in this heat-wave. I have been using the crystal for several years now.

Love Crystal solid too. Works great, no odor at all even in this super hot weather. It's readily available at drugstores and even our grocery store has it. The roll=on version didn't work quite as well.

Crystal rock or roll-on...it works!!!!! I have been using this for about a year, tho skeptical at first, it truly keeps the stink away. I'm in PA and today it was 101 degrees & during the week it has been in the 90's..no B.O. on this gal.

Something has gone wacky with my hormones over the last year (I'm 10 years past menopause) and suddenly all anti-perspirants seemed to stop working for me. I had successfully used Mitchum (men's unscented) for years and years and it didn't work any more. I tried the apple cider vinegar for a while (in combination with Mitchum) and that didn't really work either. About a month ago I bought Isomers DeoDry and IT WORKS!!. It does have aluminum in it, though. I've tried Toms of Maine and the crystal and I wish they worked for me.

Crystal roll on. Got mine in Bed, Bath & Beyond for about $3.50. They also have the rock and liquid.

Always end the day with a positive thought. No matter how hard things were, tomorrow's a fresh opportunity to make it better.

The one that you posted shows ammonium alum in the ingredients.

Crystalux crystal deodorant contains nothing but natural mineral salts.

Yes, Tom's of Maine has a great deodorant with all pure ingredients and

has no aluminum. It has worked well for me for years. I like a lot of their products

including their toothpaste.
