I have NEVER got pimples on my scalp and I started using SAM last Wed and right now I have 4 BIG (not just little snappers) pimples in my scalp - one on each side and 2 on the top. Is this just normal, maybe my scalp being stimulated??? Just thought I would see if this happened to others and if I should concerned or not?

glorybe1309222996.522596 PostsRegistered 9/25/2007 I, personally, would be concerned. I have developed a burning scalp with red spots after using WEN for about 9 months successfully, so I am not going to keep using it. I do have sensitive skin that has pores that clog easily, don't know if that is your problem.

cassiem1309223441.454622 PostsRegistered 10/6/2004 No, that's not normal (although it is a common reaction to Wen), it's a sign of irritation. Probably from the menthol in the Wen. I get the same reaction. First the big bumps, then my hair starts falling out. If I were you, I'd stop using it. glorybe1309223694.0372596 PostsRegistered 9/25/2007 Cassiem, did your hair issues resolve when you quit using WEN? What did you use afterwards if you don't mind telling me.
If they persist, I would go to a dermatologist....this does not seem normal.... That is why I started washing my hair daily again....I find my scalp and hair just feel and look better with regular washing....My hair is shiny and looks and is healthy.....Despite all the hype, it does not leave my color dripping down my face, nor does it dry or strip my hair...not all products work for everyone... I had this reaction when I first tried WEN. I called and spoke with Chazs' salon and his manager told me to rinse better. I wasn't rinsing the sides (above my ears) as well as I should have. It helped. Perhaps rinsing longer and especially in the area you have the bumps. If that doesn't help, I would contact WEN and see if they have a suggestion. If they can resolve your issue, then I would stop using it. Sandgirl1309224557.785115 PostsRegistered 8/8/2007 I wash DAILY and I have NEVER had 4 pimples in my scalp at one time - maybe 1 every 6 months. Okay, thinking I best not get anymore, I started with a 16oz of SAM and was "going to" order some Tea Tree but I think with this "reaction" I best listen to what my scalp is trying to tell me. Looks like I'm back to my Avalon Biotin - I was just trying to add in WEN 3 days a week for added moisture - Guess I won't be doing that. My head has felt a bit warmer to come to think of it - I rinse for over 4 min - well over 4 min, so I know I am rinsing enough. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INPUT - I'm so sad, I really wanted to be a WEN girl... cassiem1309224770.2774622 PostsRegistered 10/6/2004 On 6/27/2011 glorybe said: Cassiem, did your hair issues resolve when you quit using WEN? I actually rotate hair products, depending on my hair's needs. I alternate between conditioner only washing with either Suave Coconut conditioner (when hair is drier) or VO5 kiwi lime clarifying conditioner (when hair is oilier) and shampoo washing with John Frieda shampoo for blonde hair. My color stays true and my hair is in great condition! It sounds like you are rinsing well, so you probably should stop. Sorry it isn't working for you. I love WEN but I know everyone is different. Hope you heal soon! Good luck! cassiem1309225007.414622 PostsRegistered 10/6/2004 On 6/27/2011 Sandgirl said: I wash DAILY and I have NEVER had 4 pimples in my scalp at one time - maybe 1 every 6 months. It's sort of like using Wen, except it's way cheaper, rinses out much more easily, and won't irritate your scalp. You just need to wet your hair, add enough conditioner so that you have enough to massage through your hair and on your scalp. Then rinse. I conditioner only wash several times a week with cheap conditioners and it works really well. I use about 1-1/2 times more conditioner than if I'm applying after shampoo. glorybe1309225246.4032596 PostsRegistered 9/25/2007 On 6/27/2011 cassiem said: On 6/27/2011 glorybe said: Cassiem, did your hair issues resolve when you quit using WEN? I'll try it!!! :) I get Avalon super affordable through Vitacost so I can for sure do that. I'll give it a whirl, thanks for the tip! I wish there was a "LIKE" Button - that is GREAT NEWS :) yeah, I'd be concerned as well. I'm considering cancelling my AD's. It happens when the scalp is over "Moisturized" I think. But I can't help it, I dont' trust the stuff despite having used it sucessfully on and off for a couple of years. Yup, you just convinced me I'm cancelling my AD's. Hugs to you! millieshops1309268562.7810663 PostsRegistered 3/15/2007 Nothing wrong with the WEN, but you seem to be allergic to the SAM. Those "pimples" sound like what happens to my skin if I take penicillin. Too bad, the SAM is one of my favorites from Chaz. Have you tried other flavors? Maybe there's something in the SAM that's triggering your reaction - although I'd probably just use a different shampoo - lots of great ones on the market. Why suffer. I dont get it, all the rinsing has to strip hair too, water is very hard and it just doesnt make sense. Yuck! I'm so done with Wen this is the third or fourth time I've seen a post like this recently. Dump it in the trash of course it isn't normal.
