Maracuja Oil? Or Argan Oil?

Started 1308712714.58 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1308888094.903 by PerriTwin1

I watched the video preview for the Tarte TSV and saw that it comes with a mini maracuja oil. I was wondering if anyone ever used it. I've seen Josie Maran's agan oil on QVC all the time. Is the maracuja oil like that? Which is better? {#emotions_dlg.bored}

I have used another brand of maracuja oil, and have to say, I like it as well as argan oil (I have dry skin on face/body.) The more I use the maracuja, the faster it has jumped up into my top three oils (Argan, Marula, and now this one is topping Baobob oil and pushing it out of the third spot.)

Right now I use it on my body, and I mix it with a facial moisturizer in the AM. It doesn't make my face oily, but seems to just moisturize and resist dryness SO much better, all day. I haven't really posted much about this because I'm having trouble putting it into words. I have to say, its a great oil.

Lots of online suppliers sell both, and will sell in very small quantities (like a quarter or half of an ounce,) so you can try both reasonably and see what works best for you. I'm sure people here will suggest their favorite and most responsible oil sellers! I only have experience with Shea Terra Organics and like their argan oil very much. Some people have had problems with shipping and customer service, but I have not. They do some interesting oil mixes, and what I'm LOVING now is the newer 'argan oil/rose hip oil' antiaging combination. LOVE THIS.

I don't know about the oil, but I can tell you that maracuja is passionfruit. I suppose they think it sounds more exotic and rare to keep the Portuguese name.

For me a much better absorbency with Maracuja than Argan which just sits on my skin and even caused bumps under my skin. I no longer use it except for feet or hands.

I bought a 1/2 oz bottle of passionfruit oil from Natural Bliss.com for about $2.00. They have great service and fast shipping.

I only use two products at night: an eye cream and a night cream. I started using the oil around the outer corners of my eyes and a dab on my forehead. I have seen a difference in my eye area - albeit not a miracle - but a definite lessening of what looked like light cobwebs forming. The oil goes right in and has not caused any breakouts on my combination skin. As far as my forehead area, I remain optimistic.

Maracuja oil, from what I've read in other blogs, seems to win between the two. I use it and it has made my skin so smooth and my pores non-existent, while not leaving any oily film or greasiness. I can really tell a difference if I skip putting it on in the evenings.

I use both and like them both equally. I have gotten three samples of the Marucca from Tarte and will be getting another in the next TSV, so between that, and the Argan oil, I think I am set.

I know too much to go back an' pretend.

I have used thr Maracuja oil on my hands--specifically the nail/cuticle and was not impressed AT ALL. The only Argan Oil products I have used had other ingredients so I'm not sure I can give a fair review.

ITA

Argan NEVER absorbs on my skin. I use it , on occasion, over Retin A, but I don't particularly like it. MARAJUCA is better.

I bought an 8 oz bottle of Maracuja oil from Natural Bliss and I love it. I have very dry skin. I spritz my face w/a DIY facial mist then moisturize w/a couple of drops of oil. It sinks in quickly and leaves no oily residue. It's improved the texture of my skin and it just looks very healthy and glowy. I love this oil!

I also ordered from Natural Bliss. I only got the 2 oz size but I think they provide good service, it shipped quickly, and was well packaged. The 2 oz size was $2.00; a great way to try the product before splurging.

I have used both and determined the Maracuja works wonders on my skin..... I use it day and night. The Argan was a bit heavier for me, but love it on my cuticles or neck/ chest/ feet.

I can't wait to try my little sample in the Tarte TSV! Hopefully it works for me..I haven't really found a good face moisturizer yet for my combination skin. It's semi oily, but lately I have been noticing dry cheeks! {#emotions_dlg.blink}

I've used both, and I LOVE argan oil! With Maracuja, my skin seemed to become dependent on it. It seemed excessively parched on days I would skip it. I got to a point that I felt like my skin wasn't behaving normally. With argan, my skin has become softer overall. It helps Retin-A sink in with no irritation, and my makeup has been going on more smoothly. There will be no Tarte TSV for me. I'm holding out for Josie Maran's.

I got a small bottle of the tarte maracuja oil in the last Beauty Test Tube and I really like it, too.

Has anyone ordered from oca-brazil.com? I just read a blog where they were mentioned by a few people as their source for maracuja oil. It's $5.00 for an ounce.

If there's a better source, would you please share a link to buy? THANKS!

I have combination skin as well, and the Maracuja oil works great in the evening. I don't use any daytime moisturizer - just wash my face every morning with Philosophy and then use my Tarte foundation. Haven't had issues with dryness or oiliness, either one.

Ive tried a few maracujah oils and the tarte is worth the extra money. It absorbs faster and is virtually scentless. I cannot get past the stink of argan oil.

I never break out.. but I sure did with JM's argan oil. I'm talking one honker zit on my cheek and I know the oil was the culprit. No problems with Tarte's maracuja oil.

I love maracuja oil as well. I am using FNWL's now. I found it to be very similar, probably identical to Tarte's.
