Best Drugstore Lip Liner?

Started 1304084289.23 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1304308208.477 by glmama

Hi Ladies,

I seriously NEVER wear a lip liner. But after seeing the Smashbox liners presented I realize that I have to start using one again. Is there something I can get at Target or elsewhere that is similar to the look of the SB one-creamy, something that can be placed all over the lip as a sort of "base" for lipstick or gloss or balm?

I'm fair skinned with pinky undertones, if that helps.

TIA:)

Wet-N-Wild pencils are great! I use their Number 666 (yes, the number of the devil {#emotions_dlg.devil2}), which is a nudey, mauvey pink. For me, it is a neutral. (My skin is light, but not porcelain.) They have a large selection of shades, so you probably could find something lighter if that's what you need.

I agree with Lowry. I love the wet n wild #666! A beautiful color for lining or for wearing it for an all over lip color. And for a buck, you cannot go wrong!

If you have a Wallgreens near you, they have a display with "favorites" selling for .69 cents!

Also I really like the ones offered at Sally's Beauty.

Lowry & JoElla-I've heard of this pencil--it's reputation precedes it! I will go check for it at my CVS this morning. And then WGs if no go at CVS.

JoElla-Are the ones from Sally's a Sally's brand? Or something else? I've just recently discovered shopping at Sally's and I really like some things there-namely the One & Only Argan Shampoo & Conditioner. :)

I bought the Beautique ones. They are usually by the register and often on BOGO sale.

Sign up for Sally's emails, they send out coupons every few months, and if you haven't buy the 5.00 Sally's club card. It saves you some money with each purchase.

I also really like the Pallido (sp?!) line. I am using the herbal eye shadow base and really like it.

Thanks, JoElla! I will check out the line at Sally's. And the Palladio ones.

I LOVE the Palladio ones, especially in "spice" for warmer shades of lipsticks or just to wear alone under clear gloss.

Stopped using lip liner years ago - I think it ages me, and was tired of the lipstick wearing off and then just having the liner outlining my lips - not a good look!

Another vote for Wet 'n Wild 666 - have used this one for years. I've tried lots of other ones but keep coming back to these. The color is just slightly darker then my natural lip tone so it really works with most lipsticks or sometimes I fill in my entire lip with the pencil and use a little Buxom Gloss over it. This is definitely a staple for me. For the price definitely give this one a try.

The Jordana lip pencils are wonderful. Soft and creamy they are comparable to higher end ones and are so inexpensive. I use the ones you sharpen. Good color range too. They are less waxy than the Wet 'N Wild ones.

No, not a good look. That's why you need to fill in the entire lip with the same color.

I'll also agree with the WnW lip pencils. 666 & 712 are long time favorites of mine.

Rimmel also has a retractable lip pencil that I like. I think the shade is called Addiction. It's a great pinky brown nude shade.

I'm also one that uses lip liner as a base all over the lip and not just to line the outside edges. I'm a gloss/balm gal so the liner acts as a great base to hold them on longer and leaves just a touch of color when they wear away through the day.

Thanks for all the recommendations, ladies. :) Ohio-I'm primarily a gloss girl, too. Although I have recently purchased some lipsticks for the first time in a loooong while. :)

i am fair with neutral and golden undertones.

rebel-I just got a Sally's flyer in the mail and some Palladio items are on sale--they listed an eye and face primer. I looked up reviews and they're decent. Don't know if the entire line is on sale, however. I'm in the Northeast.

Hi glmama .. Sorry this recommendation is not a drug store recommendation but it's as, or more inexpensive than drugstore... "Avon Glimmersticks" .. lip liner or brow liner. Either or both. TERRIFIC (for me)

i only need a couple of Avon lip liner colors.. for either pink schemed, or peach schemed makeup face (or red schemed), and smoothes on..

Also.. BEST brow liner I've found yet.. including drugstore or expensive. Perfect softness and perfect sharpness (for me).... AND.. both are "self-sharpening."

Frequently Avon.com offers free shipping, any size order.
