Argan Oil vs. Tarte Maracuja Oil

Started 1302433502.19 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1302558868.04 by SilentDance

I usually use Argan Oil but have read many great reviews about Tarte's Maracuja Oil. Can anyone tell me if there is any "real" difference between the two oils? Thanks.

From the many posts I've read here about both, it sounds like Argan oil is more oily and doesn't soak into the skin like the Maracuja oil does. As far as the job they both do, I can only speak for Maracuja and say it is SPECTACULAR as far as what it's done for my skin. Less fine lines and wrinkles, softness it didn't have before, and now I have a glow.

Argan oil never soaks in my skin. I'm going to try the Tarte oil. I got a small sample in my TSV, and I need to try it.

I don't like either one of them. The Argan oil is drying for me and the FNWL Maracuja oil is greasy and just sits on my skin-not much different than other carrier oils I have used in the past such as Jojoba IMO.

I haven't tried argan oil on my face, I use the Morrocan Oil brand on my hair and it is great. And the bottle lasts a long time. I have samples of the maracuja oil as well as Kiehl's Midnight Recovery serum and so far I like Kiehl's product better. It left my face softer in the morning and it may be having an effect on my sun damage spots. But the maracuja oil container is 1.7oz for $46.00 whereas the Midnight Recovery is 1 oz for $38.18. Has anyone else used all three and can offer an opinion?

I've tried both, Argan for several months, and the Maracuja for a few weeks, and definitely like the M. better. I just ordered the large size last night when it was on. It seems to moisturize overnight wonderfully. That's all I use it for, but it is helping the undereye area a lot. Argan did not.

Is the Maracuja oil available anywhere else? I know some of us ordered from another site and our orders were cancelled and they increased the prices. I would like to try this.

I like them both. But I notice that maracuja oil absorbs quickly into the skin and kind of tightens my skin (face and neck) which I like. The argain oil is great also.

My vote is for Tarte! Got the sample in the TSV and absolutely LOVE IT! Definately ordering a full size bottle. Makes my skin glow!

Looks like once again my skin is backwards but I tried the M oil and all it did was just sit on my face. Tried argan and it quickly absorbed into my skin. Had to apply argan fast as the skin on my hands drank it up. Sent the big bottle of M oil back.

Marajuca oil is designed only for use on your face/neck as a nighttime moisturizer/serum. Argan Oil, as you know, can be used on your hair and entire body. I have used both for a facial moisturizer and vastly prefer the Maracuja oil because it absorbs more easily, has less of an odor, and showed visible results in my skin quickly. I wrote a long review comparing the 2 products here that you may find helpful: http://makeuphile.blogspot.com/2011/04/review-josie-marans-argan-oil-vs-tartes.html

I haven't used argan oil but I have to give thumbs up for the Maracuja oil. I got the Tarte sample size and loved it so much that I ordered the 8 oz size from Grass Hut. I pour from the big bottle into the little sample bottle because I like the dropper. It lasts about a week or so in the tiny bottle and I just refill.

I have never seen such a difference using a moiisturizing product before. My skin tends to be oily with large pores, but the texture has improved and the oiliness has decreased with using the oil.

I saw a friend who I haven't seen for a month or so and she commented "your skin looks milky". Bellieve me. This has never bee a term I could use for my complexion! I am sold.

When I get tired of shopping, I sit down and try on shoes~

On grasshuttreasures.com they are selling an 8oz sample of maracuja oil for $35.99. And Tarte on Q is selling 1oz for $46. How is that possible? Anyone know anything about the quality of grass hut treasures? How can they give 7 more ounces for $10 less??? I'm skeptical.

Wow, a month ago one site (grasshut) page said $19.99 for 8 oz, while another said $29.99 for 8 oz which was still a good price, but now they have raised their price to $35.99? These small companies are all the same, they get business from word of mouth on beauty boards and either jack up their prices or think they can get away with poor customer service.

Here, read this thread, apparently they are honoring the price IF you placed your original order way back and were refunded:

I think I was the first one or one of the first ones to order from Grass Hut Treasures. When Tarte had their VERY first live presentation going, I quickly googled maracuja oil as they were presenting, and came up with that website. Very spur of the moment, I ordered the 19.99 bottle with free ship from Grass Hut. About a half hour later, I went back to what I thought was that page, and it was now 29.99. I posted about the experience here and let people know what happened (cause we ALL know that Tarte oil is just crazy overpriced. Maracuja oil is very common in Brazil, I have gotten products from there for very little money that have it.) But who knows, Tarte may have a special co op relationship with their source, I have no idea, but anyhow, I went with Grass Hut Treasures and received the oil in about a week and a half.

They never replied back to me when I inquired how I could get the $19.99 price after they promised they would honor it. My guess is they too are reading the board or maybe someone reporting back so it could be damage control.

Anyways, I ordered from From Nature with Love and its $23.00 for 8 oz which is cheaper than the new Grasshut price of $29.99 or $34.99 whatever they're charging now and I got my package in 4 days and that includes the 2 dayh weekend. I got some other good oils too. Very pleased with my purchase and Grasshut won't ever get my money.
