The best foot skin softener!!!

Started 1295455108.923 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1295743666.697 by Smurfette

I am always struggling with my feet feeling soft/looking good. I use the Ped Egg, Pumice etc, but it's never great.

I read about Epsom Salt for feet on Makeup Alley. I soaked them last night for about 30 minutes, the water was cloudy from dead skin when I was done...ewwww....LOL

But my feet look and feel like a baby's bottom!!! So soft and smooth. Just wanted to share.

Is this regular Epsom Salt, or a special version just for feet?

Regular cheap Epsom Salt, I bought it at the .99 cent store!

Do the Epsom salt followed by vaseline and cotton socks.

My Mom used to use this, I never knew it was so good.

I have the same problem. I use a tool as a callous remover on feet http://www.amazon.com/Conair-HB5R-2-Speed-Removal-System/dp/B000H65W1E that Conair originally made to remove hair by rotating a very fine sanding disc, but found that it works great on feet, too. I'm going to combine this with the epsom salts. Thanks for the tip!

I spend a lot of time on my feet during the day so they take a beating. There is a company called Gilden Tree that sell a nice foot cream. They also have what they call a "foot scrubber" that works great. It is made of terra cotta. When I first got it I had grave doubts but it works better than anything else I have tried. You simply soak your feet a bit in the tub and then run this thing over you feet. It takes off all the dead skin and leaves you feet soft and smooth. I have tried the ped egg and did not like the results. This will work on calluses or just smooth out the skin it's self. It only costs $9.00. They have an online site.

Gold Bond in the yellow and white tube. Best ever! $5 at Wal-Mart.

Haha...gotta show this to my boyfriend who SWEARS by that...he's got baby soft feet while mine are "like allegators" as he likes to say. I try everything too, but he's right! I have tried the ebsom salt thing per his suggestion, but don't own any, so I haven't done it regularly enough...I think over time it will help.

Also, I always hear about "bag bond" (is that the right name?)...LOL...the stuff they apparently use to soften horses hooves is supposed to be sold in drugstores and work good for human feet too! And one other creme that began with a C I cannot recall...anyone know?....I used to hear about on radio ads a few years ago.

I exfoliate regularly and use lotion daily (Joan Rivers had a great one but no longer here on Q)...still I need a good way to get the rough dead skin off. They're not the worst I've seen, and pedicurists tell me not bad...but I want them sofffft, and they've never been that...more like tough skin.

Anyway blah blah.....tks for reminding me I should buy those epsom salts and try regular soaks this winter!

I know I love it too!...and I just posted yesterday about JR Beauty products...the Q line apparently has been discontinued, and I loved the nail polishes too!! Someone posted to try sites like Ebay or perhaps other outlets. Haven't searched elsewhere yet myself..

Dang! :(

Does that Ped Egg really work? I think that's the one Shawn had on about a week ago? I find a lot of the exfoliating tools sometimes make my feet more ragged rather than taking off the skin completely, no matter how long and thoroughly I do it. But this tool looked like it was working...is it good??

In place of the Joan Rivers cream, try HEEL OF APPROVAL at B&BW. Fabulous! When I asked one of the sales women about it last year, she said they all swear by it and it's a secret miracle. I tried it and am now on my 3rd jar. My sister is even using it now. Thanks for the tip on the Epsom Salt... will try that first and finish with the cream.

Wow, that's a blast from the past! I haven't heard about that for a while. I'm going to try it. We use to soak our feet in epsom salts all the time years ago. Thanks for the reminder.

ellietoo -- can you please tell me which Gilden Tree foot cream you use. I went to their site and saw the foot scrubber and then realized there were various foot creams and didn't know which to choose. The foot scrubber looks really interesting. Thanks for any info you can provide.

amyb....Yes, the Ped Egg works for me....You just have to be careful with it and not be too rough when using it....It has two sides...one side is like stainless steel with grooves....and the other side is like an emery board...Then, I use the Eucerin Cream and put on cotton socks....My feet stay nice and smooth.....I don't over-use the Ped Egg....only about once a week...but I do the moisturization just about every night.

eta:..Just wanted to add that the Epsom Salt soak sounds great...more gentle on the feet than the Ped Egg.

I have that foot microplane which works when I remember to use it or not get too aggressive with it {#emotions_dlg.blink}....but I like the idea of this soooo much better - my poor feet; I run (a lot) so they take a lot of abuse!! Gotta get some epsom salts now - thanks!!! I still really like philosophy soul owner foot cream; it probably ranks as my favorite right now....

Just looked up uses of epsom salts. Diabetics have foot issues and this sound good to me.
