What do you do to keep your hair style while sleeping?

Started 1290558116.747 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1290812217.753 by RedTop

I am not the stillest sleeper, and I would like to find a way to keep my style nice overnight. I don't have to cleanse everyday (thank you WEN). I have very fine hair that tangles easily, with some natural curl. I bought some really nice hot rollers that gives you that nice loose curl look that Chaz gets from the blow out with the round brush - I know against the rules of WEN, but hey a girl needs to do what a girl needs to do. I would like to keep the curls longer than a day - any suggestions?

I bought a "sleep cap" (LOL) at a beauty supply store and it doesn't do a thing. TIA

I don't worry about it :) I'd rather sleep well than worry about my hair. I do have to re-style every day (flat iron, spiral iron or rollers) but my curls won't hold overnight anyway. I use a light styling product (Kenra Thermal Styling Spray) and brush it out at night so my hair is not sticky or stiff. You might find a silk or satin pillow case held some - I have one but prefer my cotton cases.

My friend's Mom wrapped her head in toilet tissue every night for ages to try to keep her style from being messed up- way too much trouble for me !

47, very fair, blonde, green eyes, cool "summer' coloring. Combination/sensitive skin. Vegetarian

I don't know too many women who can sleep without messing up their hair too much, and all of them have very thick hair. I have to wash my hair everyday. There can't be any human being whose hair looks worse than mine in the morning. Ugh.

Let me know if you suddenly become interesting.

if you don't mind looking like Granda Moses, try a satin bonnet. Most beauty supply stores sell them, or a satin pillow case will also help.

My hair is medium short s&p. Nothing I can do about it, I generally wake up looking like Stan Laurel. I just wet it down and blow dry again. Not a big deal for me. Doesn't take me long. So sorry can't help you with this!

annaboxer, this sentence made me laugh. I may just have to repeat it to my girlfriends. Thank you. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

To answer fashingrl's query as to what I do to prevent bed head? Nothing; it is inevitable.

Oh my; how positively lovely!

OK, I'm neurotic about my hair when I sleep, I've been that way since I was a teen and it's not going to change. I just always put my hair "in place" everytime I roll over, or I fan it out behind me (I sleep on my side). I only wash it every 4 days or so and I don't want to have to fiddle with it in the morning.

Short curly hair. Wake up like bozo the clown. Brush it with a soaking wet brush to restyle.

Have short hair, when I wake up I look like I stuck my finger in the light socket overnight. {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

Nothing. I look like Gary LeVox from Rascal Flatts when I wake up.

I pull my hair up in an "alligator" clip every night. Then I can just use a curling iron on it the next morning. The clip keeps it full.

I'm one of those lucky lady's -- my hair is short & wavy --- and when I wake up in the morning, it looks pretty good. I just brush it for 4 seconds & it's done.

Okay, this really works. Comb your hair up into a high ponytail and wrap a roller around the ends. The roller is up high so you can't feel it when you sleep and when you get up after your bath just comb out your hair.

Nothing. I wake up with bed-head every day and spray with solution of wen and water, then put product in my hair and comb, scrunch etc. (My hair is short.)

You reminded me about the late 50s, early 60s when women got their hair done at the salon once a week. I remember as a kid the women saying they wrapped their heads in toilet paper every night! How romantic! It's a wonder we had a baby boom!{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

My hair is fine and just below the shoulder. I recently started doing a high pony tail ala I Dream of Jeannie. Works great and I am not strangling myself at night anymore...

My hair is a little past my shoulders; I have plenty of hair but it is fine. I put it in a ponytail at night but by the morning, the pony holder (a coated band) is out. It slides off my hair. I'm of no help with the OP question because I have always wanted to sleep comfortably more than I cared about my hair. I do have a friend who "slept" upright in a recliner when she wanted her hair to look a particular way the next day which totally blew me away.

polar,

What you described is exactly what I did as a teenager in high school, using those big plastic rollers! Thanks for the memory!
