Ladies- last winter I used Crisco as a body moisturizer(as some of you recommended) and recall some of you posting how to scent it with essential oils and whatnot. Can anyone give me suggestions to give it a nice scent? Can I spirtz some perfume into it before whipping it? Thanks in advance,my dears!

I was going to suggest adding a couple drops of essential oil before you whip it. If this is for your body, go ahead and try adding some perfume in a small batch and see how it works. You won't be out much if it doesn't.

Nascarfan-since I'm going to use this on my body-not my face- I'll try a spritz or two of my Amazing Grace. Thanks!

I use Amazing Grace to scent unscented body lotion when I want to layer - if you're using Crisco, the perfume oil will work much better (because it's fat-soluble) than the spray, which is likely to separate out because it's water/alcohol based. If you add it to a lotion with emulsifiers (I use Cerave) it mixes in just fine. Good luck with your experiment - I love kitchen chemistry!

Divvy-I have the roll-on AG oil. Any ideas how this could work?

I have spritzed perfume directly into a touch of Crisco (while it is in the palm of my hand) and have used Jo Malone fragrance that I added to the Crisco in a small jar. But, the most effective is to add essential oils, which I purchased at Whole Foods.

Have not used Crisco since last winter, but bought lavender tea tree oil yesterday to mix into Crisco that I have in an antique glass jar placed by my Jacuzzi. Will use this as foot salve to keep my feet soft during the cold weather months.
