Best way/product to "purge" pore stuff in oily skin??

Started 1286582699.93 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1286669653.5 by SweetyPie

I have a love/hate relationship with my super magnifying mirror. On the one hand, it lets me see when I need to tweeze those pesky hairs growing in places they shouldn't. On the other hand, it also lets me see how much "gunk" I can get in my pores!! What is the best product or the best way you've found to get the stuff out? I've heard of the Oil Cleansing method...is that supposed to get pores clean? And can people with OILY skin do the OIL cleaning method? It sounds like you wouldn't want to. I also know there are products and "machines" on the market that are supposed to be good for that.

What have you found to be the BEST way to get your pores "squeaky-clean"?!

Hey Crush, I just posted this yesterday. I think it answers your question.

My 2 cents about the OCM: I had the worst congested pores ever. When I started the OCM, I got so much stuff out, and in such disgusting shapes, colors, and sizes, I can't even tell you.

Of course I had the mother of all purges too. There was always stuff that would come up but not OUT, so I got bunches of zits, esp. on the jawline/under chin area where the congestion was worst.

Well, instead of freaking out and stopping OCM, I kept at it and didn't use any super strong acne treatments that dry out my skin. I used mostly clay masks to try to keep my pores open and cleaned out, and applied the Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum 2x a day. (I found this late in the purge, unfortunately, because it really works, doesn't fry my skin, and bathes it in antioxidants and other calming/healing things. Love it!)

Well, now my skin is SO SOFT, my pores are almost GONE (I started the OCM because my pores looked like moon craters) and clear, pink, and glowy. It is, hands down, the best thing I've ever done for my skin. And I've spent a couple of small fortunes on all kinds of skincare through the years. I love to apply my creams and oils (!!! love the oils!!!) now as my face feels so different - I still can't get over it. My chin is soft and cushy now - I literally had so much congestion (and, again, I take OCD care of my skin, go figure), that it literally was 'stiff' with it.

It took my some weeks - I still only do the OCM every 4 days as I still do it for about 30 minutes to be sure I've cleared everything out - but it was SO WORTH IT!!!! I hadn't broken out like that in 30 years but I could tell that the OCM was addressing the problem, so I've definitely am one huge success story.

I use the Androcco cleansing oil, and on my off days, an organic cleanser from Wild Indigo called Zum Gentle Face Wash - it's coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, and jojoba oil with some emulsifier to make it rinse clean - just like the Androcco cleansing oil!!! I also bought a face steamer (Target $22) instead of doing the hot wash cloth thing and I love the results with that. The strongest 'pull' mud mask ever is from ZamouriSpice.com, called Ghassoul (or Rhassoul) clay from Morocco. I mix it with Moroccan rose water and wow! hello new face!!!! Then I finish off with an argan/tamanu oil mix - yummy!

To help with the purge, for those of you who may get one, I used the REN Clear Calm 3 clay cleanser and clay mask - fabulous! and all natural! Now that I'm healed I'm also using the all natural REN Glycolic Peel and that after an OCM, and a steam, and I actually look like I just had a facial (I had one 2 weeks ago, so I can tell).

To sum up - there may be people for whom the OCM doesn't work, but just because you break out, it doesn't mean you should stop. You have to judge for yourself what the cause is: if you getting a lot of gunk out, continue. Also, once a week or so, go beyond 5 minutes and see if you don't get the stuff out. No matter what, you will be really glad you found the OCM. I am.

I also really recommend the OCM however I am afraid to say I use Androcco cleansing oil with teatree as will get blasted. There are several good sites to buy Argon oil from and I recommend you try and use organic, free trade oils. The OCM has made a huge difference in my skin.

Thanks sailorgal for both your posts. I'll go to the OCM site and read up on things. I've seen so many posts about it, but I've never really paid much attention to it because I didn't know if it would work with my oily skin. I'm glad it worked so well for you; I love to hear success stories! Thanks again for your responses.

It's really my pleasure. There is no product or machine that I've ever found that will decongest pores EXCEPT for the OCM.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

sailorgal,

I did think of something. Did you have breakouts before you started the OCM? Or did they just flare up after you started? I have the occasional "monthly" breakouts (not even every month and not terribly bad) although I did have acne as a teenager. I wonder if you were prone to breakouts, or were the breakouts something new for you?

Hi Crush,

Because of all the negative posts about Androcco and Nurse Recruiter. I have been blasted a few times already for saying I love the Androcco products.

I use and love Paula's Choice BHA 2% lotion. I read about it years ago right here. I've been using it since; it works.

I had acne has a teenager. So it had been a long time since such a breakout. I have on occasion broken out from a nasty, chemically product - like Purity Made Simple. I don't do chemicals anymore though, so I had been clear for a looong time.

I'm not sure why my pores were so congested either. My derm said it was because my skin produces more oil than the average person, but really my skin is dry. My facialist said that some of the stuff had been in my skin for months - or even years! Yes, eeeeewwww!!!! I was actually traumatized a little when I first started the OCM. I couldn't believe that someone like me, positively compulsive about skincare, could have such awful junk in my pores, but I guess it happens. I'm the worst story I've heard about on any BB, but some were similar to a lesser degree. I think you will get lots of stuff out. I think my purge was due to the fact that my stuff was so deep down, i.e., I couldn't SEE any of it -except on my nose. And I've gotten some large pieces out with no sign of where they came from - I would have thought there'd be a hole in my face, but no. So I don't think you'll have anywhere near the purge I did, if at all.

Nonetheless, it IS worth it. I will never give this up. I try EVERYTHING and I've never found a thing that actually pulls stuff out of your pores. And I was a faithful user of salicylic pads - everyday - to clean out my pores. What a joke!!!

OCM for clean pores, period.

I use the Androcco Cleansing Oil and like it very much. I have been clear that I have NOT been scammed by NR or Androcco. I think some people have had slow shipping but everyone has received their items. The slowest shipping EVER is QVC, and we still buy from them.

sailorgal...another question:

I've been looking at the OCM site. I can't click on the information to the left..."which oils are best for me", "deep breathing for skin", and others. How do I access that information? Thank you!

DHC also has good cleansing oil. It emulsifies with water for easy rinsing. I always cleanse my face with a regular facial cleanser after using the oil cleansing! If not, I will break out also.

This just isn't for oily skin i it? The OCM? I'm on the dry side but it looks like I have blackheads or white heads around my nose and chin. I don't really know the difference

Sailorgal, have you tried any other cleansing oil beside the Androcco? I have been combining my own oils, jojoba, castor, and argon but nothing is happening. Did you see things coming out of your pores the first time you used it? I have tried it about 4 times now.

I find it is as much the method of OCM, as the combination of oils. It is the continued massage action of a true OCM - it does take several minutes to truely do an OCM session - that causes the oils to start breaking down the sebum and debris in the pores. You will start to feel little grits as you continue massaging. Those little grits are the sebum plugs and debris being released from the pores.

I've used my own homemade mixture of OCM that I got off of the site but have never felt any little grits when I massaged, the first time I used a warm wet washrag to kind of steam my face, my face felt real good afterwards but couldn't tell anything came out. I used a mixture of olive, castor and jojoba oil. Maybe since I don't have a speck of oil and am on the dry side, I won't get the results like someone with oily skin???

For years I hated my oil slick face aka oily skin but as I approach my 40's I am thankful. MY derm says the oily skin is the reason why I am wrinkle free. My luck won't hold out forever that is for sure.

I use BIORE or CVS/Rite Aide brand strips on my nose and chin areas and get tons of goobers out all usually white heads that you cannot even see when you look but obviously it is there. I also use Clean and Clear a couple times a day to clean out the left over junk and have no issues. Once in a blue moon will get one pimple on my chin USUALLY from resting my face in my hand! I use baby oil for eye make up remover at night and baby oil after my shower along with my lotion and I have great skin. I gave up ten years ago to find the perfect "fix.." no OTC be it cheap or expensive is going to do much but lighten my wallet. The only exception is cosmetic surgery. I don't even buy the dept store makeup too much anymore. Too many companies are producing really reasonable knock offs or similiar enough to me that I cannot justify the price.

I have been using various OCM's and then began using Androcco products from recommendations on this board. I have to admit that I really do like the Androcco products....they are working great on my very sensitive, oily, blackhead prone, 56 year old skin. I don't want to get bashed for using the products. I like them a lot and have never had any problems with the company. For me, this OCM works best and the blackheads are FINALLY subsiding, my pores are getting smaller, and my skin is so nice and smooth. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}
