What are differences between medium and wide shoes? Are they wider the whole length of foot or, hopefully only wider at ball of foot. Please someone explain this to me. My foot widens a bit more right before toes and am unsure if wide would work. I do not need extra width in arch area and back of foot. I am looking at Clarks shoes if that matters. I would like to discontinue having shoes stretched in that area.
I wear 7 wide and have around 20 pairs of Clarks. My foot is wide but my heel is average - and Clarks fit perfectly. You can order Clarks from Zappos.com if they don't fit - send them back. Sometimes their price is a little higher, but there's free shipping/taxes - so you can just send them back.
It sounds like you need to visit a good quality shoe store where a trained professional will measure your foot and then you can try on various shoes. Sometimes it depends on style of shoe as well as the size.Once you know what your size is then you can order without trying on but I can't for the life of me figure out how people who aren't sure what their size is order shoes without trying them on.
I know what size I wear having been "professionally" measured. However, I ordered a pair of Clarks unstructured in medium and felt I needed a little more width in the front of shoes. I simply wondered if I could possibly wear a wide.
Goof quality shoes have 2 types of wide: one with a regular width heel and wider front. The other is wide all of the way. The markings in the heel with often be designated c/b hich means a c width front & b heel.
The one way to be sure if a good fit with a hard to fit foot is learn what manufatures fit you well.
Brabls, thanks for teaching me something today.
I thought I had wide feet- but when I ordered some Clarks they were way too big. So I guess in their shoes I am not wide....
I really have a wide toe box[ think f. flinstone!!] and the clarks still are snug, wide.
